It Takes All Kinds

I have found that in the classroom some students catch on very quickly, while others take more time. I work to explain things differently to these students but sometyimes struggle with the quiet ones that don't ask for help. I worry that they will pay for an education that they don't take full advantage of so I try to draw them out of their shells and use the assessments to see how well they are understanding the material. Ultimately it doesn't matter how long it takes, as long as they get it.

I wish

I wish that higher education institutions would not have to deal with remedially inclined student populations. The building blocks of student success are laid down in middle school. Catch them early!

Every time I start a class I see many students who are not engaged and participating. There must be a better way to get students involved in their own learning, and it is now time to use computer technology and artificial intelligence.

I wish our insttution would adopt adaptive learning.

Interactive quizzes

I have students access building codes AS THEY NEED THEM for credit rather than give a print out with the codes and a test on having memorized them,  When they can look up the required clearances around a water fountain to accommodate a wheelchair then incorporate tht information into their drawing it becomes meaningful and gives them the tools to stay current with this information.

Adaptive learning

I will check out these sites as well. As technology advances peoples outlook and values changes. Such is the case with the 21st century learners. We are now living on a technological landscape; hence the educational arena is adjusting to its demands. Adults who want to participate in continuing education are searching for an educational system that has immediacy, relevance, cater to their learning styles, and allow them to work at their own pace. Adaptive learning has many benefits.

How are baseline learning concepts formulated?

Adaptive Learning

a good support system is essential for implementing this learning system.

Adaptive learning in different classroom settings

The world of education is consistently adapting and changing.  The traditional look and feel of the classroom continues to evolve.  We now have live classrooms as well as online classrooms.  We have students that have differnt learning styles and ability levels.  It continues to become challenging for the instructors of today to find new ways to motivate students to learn and achieve success with these varying learning styles and abilities.  Adaptive learning assists us in creating these modern environments for our student learners to be able to excel.  This is something that I believe will continue to evolve.

Adaptive Learning

This course provided me with greater insights about the utlization of adaptive tools I presently have. In a few weeks, a new semester begins and I plan to use these tools to help students work at their own pace.  How do I help slow progressing students' work at their own pace and meet the required outcomes ? Has anyone found effective methods for students in this category? Please  share.

Edu 123

Hello All,

Excellent learning about the the adaptive learning environment! I am very interested in the success rate of students who are auditory learners. I liked that this course had all of its content via written and auditory format. I would like publishers of our textbooks more towards having the content in an auditory format

Very useful!!

Thoroughly enjoyed this class!  It makes me really want to learn more about AL.  It is perfect

for the career/technical classes I teach!

Gamification

Having spent two years in a Masters of Education program for Instructional Technology, I complete my Capstone Project this month with the final task of creating a LMS (Learning Management System) using "game" software. The "gamification" approach to testing can be essentially a multiple-choice answer quiz much like we see on TV game shows, but it can also be a simple Q&A with only one possible response being valid.

This approach to content-delivery is learner-centered and should prove to be more effective than the instructor-centered lectures, slide shows, etc. where often rote memorization is the usual avenue of acquiring learning… >>>

Human Touch

As educators we must never lose sight that students will always require the human touch element of education.

adaptive learning

ED123 is a fantastic course and the concept should be implemented asap!  I plan to use more of these techniques in my upcoming classes.  Great ideas!

improving skills in the adaptive learning environment

I am still learning and enjoyed learning  in the Adaptive learning course.  I will incorporate  key skills like playing games, having fun, progressing to higher levels, earning points, earning a higher status, completion and others, appeal to a wide variety of students in my class.

ED 105

I am still improving on my skills as an effective instructor. I still rely too heavily on power points and lecture as a teaching method. I have incorporated a couple of games into my class time however some students feel they don't have "time" to play games and just want to know what is on the test. I will be starting a new term next week and I have planned on using some video learning, group projects, and case studies.

ED109-Preparation for Lesson Planning

A key element in lesson planning is confering with professionals in the field to determnine contemporary issues and best practices.  We need to stay connected to the field rather than use pure academic resources and materials.
