I was struck by the note that students learn with technology, not from it. That reminds me of my role in reinforcing the learning objectives without being too repetitive or bombarding the class.

In an online environment it is important to build a dynamic syllabus that clearly outlines the entire course throughout the term. In addition to building a dynamic syllabus, online instructors need to use the LMS to create an online community.
I have learned that a syllabus provides guidance for the students as well as the structure of how the course will go.
I learned how important the syllabus is in an online class. It should provide the student with all the information about the class, learning objectives, assignments and class expectations. It is also important to offer clear instructions on assignments, discussion post guidelines, communication and due dates.
Apply concepts to real-life problems or case studies. Provide guidance early on then encourage more independent, encouraging more independence and goal settings.

I have learned that even when online courses are given, you must have instructor and student input, no matter what. Making the courses manageable for the students goes a long way toward their success.
Instructor engagement is important in discussion boards to keep students engaged and participating, particularly students who feel intimidated by the online forum.
When students feel part of the group and that you are not wasting their time with discussions, they will participate. Sometimes it is in group, other times in vblogs, etc. It may not be a traditional manner in which we see it.
Online classes should have multiple ways for students to communicate and engage with each other. Discussion boards but also video calls, email, and chat can help students and faculty create an online community. We do this by having video calls, offering Teams office hours, and encouraging students to email with questions.
In this module I learned about some aspects of online learning that deepened my understanding of the process.
One of the phrases that stuck with me is Learning With Technology instead of Learning From Technology. Sometimes the simple change in a perspective makes the biggest difference.
The methods for encouraging effective communications were extremely useful as well. Although, it is hard for some students to engage for a variety of reasons, and some just do not want - it is still an extremely helpful information.
I've learned that instructional delivery goes beyond just presenting content—it involves fostering an engaging and supportive environment for students. I plan to apply these principles by ensuring that my course syllabus is clear, flexible, and engaging. I will work on creating opportunities for students to connect, ask questions, and collaborate, which is particularly important in an online environment. I'll also focus on effective communication through timely feedback and interactive discussions, and I will design learning experiences that progressively challenge students, reinforcing key concepts step by step.
