Instructors should set clear expectations for all coursework and use rubrics to not only communicate expectations for each assignment but also allows students to know what they need to do to ensure assignments meet this criteria.

Instructors must effectively maintain communications among all stakeholders within the online learning environment to keep students engaged, not only to help them understand the content, but also to motivate them to participate in all aspects of the online classroom.

Instructors should set standards for communication guidelines between instructor-to-student (I2S), student-to-instructor (S2I), and student-to-student (S2S) to maintain certain boundaries and when the appropriate times for communications to take place.

Selecting the appropriate technology tools for the classroom is crucial for effective instructor-to-student (I2S) and student-to-instructor (S2I) communication within the course.
