While I have already encountered each of the different tools mentioned in this lesson and was familiar with their different uses, I had never thought about the need to coordinate the use of the tools with my individual teaching style.
That assessing the technology tools that you use are valuable to find out if it is helping the students understand the material
There are several tools available that can enhance the learning environment for students. I want to learn more about how podcasts are being used versus other tools like video posts.
Identifying the style of teaching is a direct correlation to the desired learing outcomes. Having a combination of styles may amplify the learning process of the student. Matching the teaching style with the proper technology should have ease of use, interactivity and be compatible with computer requirements.
This was a good tip:
Voice over powerpoint tip: It is essential that instructors not record lengthy segments of a lecture as they become too long and lack interactivity to keep students’ attention.
However, it is important not to "lecture" for more than 10-15 minutes as the recording then become too lengthy.
tech tools are impt to online claases and needs to be user friendly
There are many different tools online instructors can use. It is important when chosing what to incorporate into your class to make sure the tech. is user friendly, has a purpose, and has meaning in the lesson.
I have learned that we have many tools, but we do not have to use them all. We need to asses wich tool works best for the learning goal in mind.
I have learned that by choosing and matching appropriate tools with its functions can facilitate teaching, but only after assesing its effectiveness the technology is proven to be affective for a particular. For example: a teaching or learning style.
Thank you for reading :)
I learned that each technical tool may have several functions, and the instructor does not necessarily need to use each function of the technical tool. It is necessary to ensure that appropriate functions are used to meet the needs of teachers and students, and the content is presented in a feasible format. Using technology can promote the process of teaching and learning.
I have learned that you must assess the tool you are planning to use to have effective stuent outcomes. Not all tools that are given are effective for what you are going to be teaching. I have already come across that while teaching online. Sometimes too many resources and or tools can be a hender versus a help.
investigate different methods of technology
THere are many tools we can use in the online format. Knowing which tools are effective and how to properly use them are ket to online learning
There is always a use for technology in teaching and learning. Researching technology and learning how to use it will only enhance teaching.
It is important to assess and use appropriate tools that will help enhance your teaching methods.
Do research before you continue to get better at any and all of these, instructors need to have a plan for how they are going to learn new information and techniques that will make them better instructors.
CTC
There are the many methods of use for both the technology and teaching styles. We have all had courses that have led to frustration.
We as insructors and students need to provide accurate feedback to better improve the courses
There are various technology tools that are available when teaching an online course. It is necessary to use these technology tools by making an assessment on how these tools will help in facilitating learning and achieving the learning outcomes of the course.
Reply to Donald Lehr's post: if you are using ppt. use the header/footer function to number the slides. you post the slides as a pdf, or run the presentation as a "slide show". i do a lot of those with various animations
I am the teacher, whether in the classroom, or in a virtual space. Technology is a vital part of everyday life. I tell my students that "life is an open book test." We need to know how to harness the vast technological reasources at our disposal to develop our understanding. Teaching has now become the art of helping of people ask the right question.
Any test question can now be put into a search box, with a requisitely appropriate response given. Unfortunately, we can't just hold our phones up to the world and get our answer for real life issues. We need to learn how to frame the question, and determine if our solution is meaningful.
Teaching students how to use available technologies appropriately is a priority in today's classroom, in every arena.
As instructors, we need to become familiar with the various technologies, and introduce them to the students. Each program has its strenths and weaknesses. Teachers must be prepared for potential questions and issues with both technology and subject area content.
