Instructors should have a consistent module format.  Communication with the audience is also key.

Incorporating consistency and variety is a balance that appeals to students and can create an effective learning environment. When expectations and formatting is consistent, the student does can focus on exploring the different types of learning material rather than stressing about navigating the course and its expectations.

Honestly, I'm taking this course to beef up my faculty training and on-boarding for online educators, so I'm planning to apply all of the information presented.  I do however, value the emphasis on consistency.  I find that within their own courses educators often don't have any consistency or flow - which makes things haphazard and difficult for students to follow.

Through the use of a course framework, as a professional academic instructor, I have the opportunity to carefully plan how to develop a course more effectively by ensuring the consistency of the module and achieving the desired outcomes or learning objectives.

A course framework helps a teacher to align learning outcomes with learning activities. It stimulates motivation and integrates evidence of progress into learning. As a teacher, we have to make a consistent course framework. Students can get their best learning performance.

I learned about the importance of having a consistent format and chunking information to make sure that students don't feel overwhelmed.

The most important thing I learn is about chunking information so students can learn in better and effective way.

Well structured. I have learnt about Course framework, creating and testing a course module and learning objects database.

I will try to use about the concept of consistency and learning objects database.

Developing a course framework is like creating a roadmap for course development. It allows for careful planning of how to sustain module consistency and ensure completion of learning objectives. A course framework should answer questions about what students need to know and do, how content will be delivered, received, and assessed. Audience analysis is important before designing and developing the course. Consistency in course modules, including layout, instructional, and assessment characteristics, enhances the learning process and reduces student anxiety. Creating a learning-object database and using course-module templates can save time. LMS templates can be altered to fit specific needs.

The importance of templates, respect the formats all along the courses, the vocabulary to use, the way you design the courses have to be always the same in order to not get the students lost and confused with too many different informations.

A course framework aids in the alignment of learning objectives and instructional strategies. It increases motivation and incorporates learning with proof of progress.

Consider training modules as a book's chapter. Each module (or chapter) represents a milestone in a learner's journey, bringing them closer to finishing the entire course with each passing lesson.

A course framework, in my opinion, is a visual framework for capturing students' ideas. Students can use it as a road map.

Dear colleagues,

I have learned and reflected upon the importance of chunking to create a cohesive and coherent learning experience.

I will apply this to the fórum questions in one of my courses.

Regards.

"Feel at home"

The one that stuck in my mind is the creation and designing of the module, especially on the consistency of it's design. I believe creating a student-friendly module means making the students feel "at home" with their courseware. Like our homes, we breeze through the cupboard easily finding cups, teaspoons, baking materials, canned goods, and wine glasses. Students should also be able to "breeze through" our coursewares finding with ease and familiarity where the assessments, contents, videos, FAQs, are. This boosts the confidence of the students and helps them perform excellently in the course.

As discussed in the module, truly this entails time and dedication with continuous testing and retesting, but it will worth all the sweat and blood since we reach our target of effective and excellent delivery of education to our students.

My take away from module 1.

  • Learning-objects databases are a valuable tool for course developers as they can save time by reusing materials.
  • Learning objects can be used to chunk course information and make it more manageable for learners.
  • Learning objects can be used as supplemental information or to provide remedial learning opportunities.
  • Learning objects can be accessed from various sources, including school or university technology departments, professional organizations, online venues, and textbooks with companion learning objects.

How I intend to apply what I've learnt.
In terms of applying this knowledge, I can start creating my own learning-objects databases or utilize existing ones to improve my course development process. By using learning objects, I can make my courses more engaging and interactive for students. Additionally, I can use learning objects to provide remedial learning opportunities and chunk information into manageable pieces, which can lead to better student learning outcomes.

Hello everyone,

This module is very important because it provides a deep understanding on why consistency is critical to get all modules line-up and synch with the outcomes, so that students can focus on learning by providing the correct set of assets to thrive.

In this case, I will make sure the template is easy to navigate and test, so they don´t need to struggle with finding information, rather I will make sure all the objects, structure and templates are allocated correctly to foster students smooth learning process using data, graphs, videos, interactive resources etc.

I personally find this 1st module very helpful to follow this guidance with students in a virtual classroom.

Thank you

Hello everyone,

I have learned a lot in this course, first of all the course framework as a road map of the course that we are preparing, also I found interesting the importance of testing templates and modules for students success in the course.  I will apply in my current course all thementioned aspects and cosnsistency as well, in a way that students find consistent instructions and layout to help them achieve complete understanding of activities and tasks.

Kind regards,

Moni

Hi, I've learned about developing a course framework and audience analysis, as well as the technical aspects of scaffolding and chunking.

I have learnt the importance of having good course module templates and effective learning object database.

As an online teacher, having good course module templates and an effective learning object database can greatly improve the quality and consistency of the learning experience of my students. A clear and organized course module template can help my students understand how different pieces of information fit together and make it easier for them to navigate through the course. A well-designed learning object database can provide easy access to relevant resources, making it easier for my students to find the information they need and engage with the content.

Therefore, designing and creating clear and organized course module templates that include all necessary information and resources is crucial. Also building a robust learning object database that is easily accessible to students and regularly updated with relevant and high-quality resources can be a game changer for my students. By utilizing these tools, I can provide a more engaging and effective learning experience for my students, helping them to achieve their educational goals.

I learnt about course module templates, content and learning objects database creation or utilization of existing ones provided by either the university/college technological department, social media, or other sources. Essentially, course module template development is an ongoing and cyclical process that seeks to improve the template. Content creation should maintain constituency to minimize the chances of confusing learners. That is, learners should be able to comprehend easily taking advantage of consistency.

What I have learned in this lesson is to keep in mind when designing the course module that the text formatting, navigation, shapes, and colors must match those of other modules. Students will become accustomed to an environment created by a similar course module design and content creation that results in roughly the same time on task.
