Having AI work independently can be an asset; however, it will require the instructor to stay on top of the latest technology advancements, and embrace the rapidly evolving platforms for AI and other forms of independent, autonomous type technology.  As AI evolves, so will the power of the tools such as platforms and learning systems evolve.  It will yet to be seen for totally autonomous AI platforms to perform without human input or interaction, but it still provides an opportunity for instructors to have a great hand in guiding AI systems and software to fully utilize its potential in the classroom.  Implementing the concepts in this course for AI usage will benefit instructors greatly, as this is a large technology tool for the future...and it's where things are headed

In this topic I learned that it takes time to have faith in AI to on its own. Professionals and organizations generally use calibrated trust which strikes a balance between human oversight for high-stakes decisions, data security, innovative strategy and the confidence to delegate regular, operational chores.

I am accountable for all learning experiences in your classroom, including those facilitated by AI, even though the county system oversees. Taking ownership of AI tools' ongoing performance means monitoring their effectiveness.

I have learned that it is up to us on how we partner with using AI and it can be safely used

I have learned that AI can be used safely, and that I have more control over the output and uses than I thought. I learned that my professional expertise is still important in teaching using AI tools.

Although I do not trust AI blindly, I see how there can be a "trust but verify" partnership.

I have learned that AI can be an invaluable tool in CTE fields if it is utilized correctly and effectively in order to maximize its capabilities and benefits.

I’ve learned that trusting AI to work independently is really about clear boundaries, not blind trust. I plan to use AI for routine, repeatable tasks—like simple practice questions or reminders—within guidelines I set. I’ll still review its output regularly to be sure it stays accurate, safe, and aligned with my curriculum. I’m still the final decision-maker; AI just helps carry the load.

I need to keep up, and keep my own growth mindset. But I also need to balance the positives represented here with real industry and socioeconomic problems, ethical problems, and more that come with using AI. I think it's important to consider carefully how to integrate AI into my curriculum to enhance learning and ability, not replace it. And have those hard conversations about the problems in the real world. 

Trusting AI is not losing control. The TRUST method (Transparency, Relevance, User Control, Safety, Tracking) helps me evaluate tools before using them. Independent AI needs weekly oversight. I am still responsible.

I will evaluate one tool using TRUST this week. I will set a 15-minute weekly reminder to review interactions and log errors. I will complete my AI Growth Plan.

 
 
 
 

AI can work independently, and usually go a good job, but it must be systematically monitored and corrected when it makes mistakes.

I have learned how to take a much more systematic approach to integrating AI into my work. This contrasts with how I have been doing it, which was much more experimental and unstructured.

I learned the importance of evaluating AI tools carefully using criteria such as transparency, relevance, safety, and tracking. I plan to apply this by reviewing AI outputs regularly, monitoring student interactions, and making adjustments to ensure the content remains accurate and aligned with my curriculum.
