I have always found that critical thinking is the hallmark of a wise and educated person.

Getting the students involved actively in class discussions helps in their learning.

I enjoy both formal and informal methods of assessment.  Informal assessments more so, because it allows for dialogue in depth about the topic at hand.  You can really gauge someone's understanding better by asking questions but also hearing what questions they have.

This module describes different types of assessment of the content that has been taught. When designing an assessment you want to make sure that it is measuring the knowledge that you want the students to learn by being valid to your course objectives.

The group assessment techniques and use of CAT to evaluate understanding and content presentation were most helpful.

As an instructor it is important to gain an understanding of your students’ background knowledge.

General Educations Assessment is a huge  highlight for my CTE class. The FIRST domain we go over is workplace skills where students have to answer questions and solve problems that deal with critical thinking and writing. Most jobs today aren't filled because of the lack of training in these areas so it does us instructors no good to commit all this time to technical skills and our students still not get the job because they can't write, communicate, or have basic problem solving skills.

Assessing the student ability to learn is the first and most important step. Using the CAT method, you can track the student ability to take in information, comprehend, and then test them on it.

I learned about the various types of assessments that can be used to determine where a student is.

Students involvement can be promoted by active learning

The engagement of my students is imperative and I like the idea of the "minute paper" to assess their knowledge.

CATs activities can help bridge the gap in learning. A CAT activity can summarize learning so far, then any gaps can be addressed.

Understanding, and appreciating the importance of evaluation using the tools and readjusting delivery of the topic with the final evaluation piece.

I appreciate the use of CAT for a quick check in to see where students may need additional or different teaching.

I learned that I will want to periodically test students knowledge throughout the course to ensure they are grasping the information, but also to assess my effectiveness in relaying the relevant information

Great lesson on the best ways to assess the general education level of the students and how to assess their understanding of the topic in ways that are quick and effective like CAT exercises.

Informal checks help see where areas of improvement are needed and help narrow down areas to review.

Utilizing Bloom's taxonomy will assist in assessing the students' learning and advancement.

more student involvement

Interesting to learn about Bloom's Taxonomy and the application of CATs.
