Professionalism is key. We all want to be liked as instructors and directors, but the level of professionalism shown will gain respect as well as the students feeling proud knowing they are in good hands is by far the most important thing for me.
This course has taught me to always be motivating to my students. Motivation is always needed being that this is an important factor that helps people, especially students achieve their goals and overcome obstacles that they may face. Other important topics were to lead by example, leading by example directly influences a students engagement and learning outcomes. Lastly, always show and model professionalism, this creates a positive first impression, enhances your reputation and opens up career opportunities.
Motivate your students, lead by example, and manage well.
Being the Model would be one of my successful teaching techniques. Since our actions will demonstrate excellence and high standards, our students will be able to thrive in their chosen filed.
I will manage, motivate, and model as an instructor. Part of personal competency has to do with my personality and how I can use it to maximize learning while giving instruction. Also, this is part of my instructional style. The most important thing in the classroom is learning, not teaching. It's OK to admit mistakes. I need to create a professional development plan.
I learned that students will be more engaged with learning, if i am excited about the material (which thankfully I am) and to always conduct myself like a professional, so i can lead by example, instead of preaching one thing, but living by another.
Modeling in the auto collision shop is an important aspect of teaching. Students need to know how a collision shop runs and what it looks like. I have been contemplating taking my students to an autobody shop so they can see employees in action. This class has encouraged me to do so.
Comment on Michelle DeJong's post: Teach by modeling
The 3 Major competencies for instructors are Technical, Professional.
Be confident in what you are teaching your students, motivate them.
The "5 C's" lead to an overall better teaching model.
To be successful and continue developing as a CTE instructor, focus on staying connected with the industry, refining your teaching methods, and building meaningful relationships with students. It's about balancing technical skills with pedagogical techniques and creating an inclusive, engaging learning environment where students can thrive and prepare for successful careers.
Lead by example. Be supportive and motivate. Be a friend not a pal. The 5 C's: credible, candid, compassionate, committed and clear. Soft skills: on time, good hygiene...
As a leader I feel that I have the personality and also have the want to, to be an Instructor. There is always room to learn more and to also learn about the needs of the students. Also to get feed back from the students at the end of the class to find out wat has been learned.
Being prepared and being an example consistently, will help as I develop as an instructor.
I've gained perspective on how to be professional and not to fall into the trap of becoming pals with my students.
Lead by example. Be open to learning from others as well.
