it's not just about instructing, but about ensuring the students are learning. We must be able to adjust if we need to in order to fit the needs of the students better. not every class is the same, and some may need more time or a different approach in order to grasp the same information another class was able to absorb easily
You want to set the tone and standards for the classroom.
Professionalism and enthusiasm set the tone for students as well as peers. Often times in classes that I have been in the instructor was monotone and not very convincing.
Not only having professionalism but also having excitement for the subject matter you are teaching. This can create excitement in your class for more of an active learning opporotunity.
Modeling professionalism is important as it sets the tone. Also showing enthusiasm for the subject.
HI, so I do agree that being able to be professional in all different environments is key. Teaching and modeling respect and professionalism comes naturally for me. Figuring out how to relay that skill to my students will make me feel very accomplished that they understand.
Being an instructor is more than just teaching content. It's about how you engage students and support their learning. Active learning and asking questions really help students think and apply what they know instead of just listening.
This segment highlighted for me the importance of being a good role model for my students. I realized that demonstrating punctuality and preparedness encourages students to adopt those same habits.

This has motivated me to seek out instructional courses that will enable me to become more proficient with using technology in the classroom and creating presentations that are highly engaging and motivating.

First of all, this is life changing course! I am exited to see what I need to improve on and make a personal improvement plan, both personal and professional. Also, this course is making me aware of how much I don't know myself. As regular critical care nurse, not once do I remember taking the time to look at myself; I was too busy taking care of patients, patient's family member, and their friends. Besides being a critical care nurse, I have the opportunity to work as nurse in the pre-hospital setting ( emergency medical services, outside the hospital setting) and again looking at myself was not the focus of my job. My job as a pre-hospital provider was to quickly bring and apply my knowledge and medical skills to make a positive difference in people's life. As a flight nurse I was too busy looking out for safety and the safety on others around me! Also, in my childhood days, growing up, I don't remember looking at me, I just remember being too busy taking care of my siblings; I was the oldest child with 5 siblings under me. I don't remember having time or a mindset to look at me. I was too busy surviving. Now teaching and going through this training is making me look at myself; I can say that some areas of my life are emotionally very painful because I did't realized how deprived I was as child for from parents attention. Going through this training is making me look at myself and this self awareness is touching on very deep emotional wounds. At the same time, I am glad to revisit this old and hidden emotional wounds so I can start my emotional healing path.
In this module, I was reminded to model professionalism for the students. It lets them know what is expected of them and holds everyone accountable and to the same standards.
We are life-long learners and continually strive to build more knowledge. We should always present ourselves in ways that students will want to emulate our behavior as they move into their careers.
It is important to know that you can always grow and learn no matter where you start at as an instructor. I will make sure to not only dress the part, but strive for alternate aids to assist my growth and development to gro as an instructor.
