In order for your student services program to be successful, you must develop partnerships with employers in the fields that you. Start small (by contacting employers who have hired your students in the past), and build your relationship over time. Reach out through surveys, emails, and hiring events. As time goes on it may be possible to get these employers to make long term commitments. Keep up with trends in the employment arena such as application process and changes in technology, and shift your strategy accordingly.
Early engagement and inclusivity with all students is critical. It makes great sense to embed rather than add when designing an integrated career development plan!
A relationship-driven approach that is engaged early on is more effective than siloed career services. Also, aligning employer activations with student readiness creates more meaningful opportunities.
Effective career services serve as a link connecting education and the workforce by addressing the needs of both learners and employers. These services prepare learners with skills for career transition and act as a talent pipeline connecting employers with skilled students.
Building employer partners better prepare learners, strengthen reputation, build and grow the career services program.
