The concept of "earn while you learn" emphasizes gaining practical, hands-on experience while pursuing education or training. It allows individuals to apply their skills in real-world settings, earn an income, and build a foundation for long-term career success.

One key takeaway is understanding the impact of employment verifications and how accurate we are when supplying the data. It was also interesting to see the different definitions of gainful employment and how that may look different for different parties.

This module gave me a new way to look at gainful employment.  I used to only consider the financial aspect, but it does make sense to also consider the fulfillment aspect.  If a graduate feels fulfilled in their role and they are making enough money to have a good quality of life and repay their loans, that's a win-win.  I will definitely consider this thought process when looking for career placement opportunities to share.  It will make me ask the question most frequently, "Where do you want to work, and what type of position will make you feel like your education has helped you reach the next goal in your life?"  Not only will these outcomes impact that individual student, but also our school, investors and higher education as a whole.

This section underscores the importance of accurate placement reporting and how it fits into the larger picture.  This serves as a reminder to ensure we do all we can in Career Services to report where our graduates are working as accurately as possible and with as much data so that we can shape future policy both with the institution, economically, and even globally.

My key takeaway from this module is the impact that true employment reporting has on the economy.

Get employment verification ASAP in order to keep records current.

I agree with many of these takeaways. I had not fully grasped the impact of reporting and tracking "gainful employment" data both at graduation and beyond.

I realized the employment reporting isn't just for my own university or my own use, it plays a part in funding, evaluating program effectiveness, and our students becoming gainfully employed.

One of the highlights that surprised me is the fact not every teaching entity reports employment outcomes.

Collecting accurately is crucial because it gives insight to future students.

Accreditation is essential so that the college is identified as a legit school that follows guidelines.

Through this training module, I learned how crucial documentation is to the accreditation process. I understand lack of that documentation can negatively impact the institution's accreditation. I also learned that gainful employment can have a different meaning to people. However, government entities are most interested in the student debt to salary ratio. This can affect our funding and what programs we offer to students.

This module showed the importance of Career Services to support graduates in their career success. It highlighted how having accurate data for employment to help students during their college search is important and also allows for institutions to keep their funding while improving education and employment support for students/graduates.

I didn't realize the significance of reporting the details behind where a graduate goes after college. I got a heightened sense of the need for accurate reporting.

My biggest takeaway from this module is to completely  understand how vitally important reporting accurate placements and salaries is.  The different perspectives on "gainful employment" was also eye-opening as I had never thought about it from any other perspective than monetary.

It is important that students are able to find employment after completing their postsecondary programs/degrees.  Documentation is important for accountability and employment reporting.

Losing accreditation could result is loss of federal funding.  Maintaining influence is important on the national economy.

Data accuracy is very important for a laundry list of reasons, although when students have income goals and the institution has accurate information on the statistical realities associated with the field's and industries to dispense to those students this creates a level of confidence in the department and institution where students can become empowered.

Gainful employment really stood out to me. There is no perfect definition. It all depends on the circumstances. This was my first time hearing about this.

The training highlighted for me the political and legal reasons for accurate reporting of employment, which is what I expected.  Being compliant with the reporting guidelines is understandable.  What I learned was that there are more than just financial components to the term “gainfully employed”.  The psychology of gainful employment as it pertains to personal purpose as a measure of quality of life was a lightbulb moment for me.

I learned about how higher education institutions use employment reporting data as a factor in which programs they offer. I also learned that accurate reporting of this information can affect the public funding that institutions receive to run their programs.

I think that it is great that they are actually looking at this and regulating it. Our national debt is astronomical, and student debt is completely over inflated. If government continues to subsidize loans to individuals, and then tell those individuals that they may not under any circumstances become absolved of that debt, as so far as to pass the debt to children and dependents. Then on the same hand they need to regulate colleges to teach degrees that enable students to pay back their inflated debt.
