Reality base practice vs perfect world with no mistakes guidelines by the book

I am looking forward to developing and applying service-learning opportunities in my class.

Students should be able to  see the value of service learning as in comes hand in hand with career development.

SL is a community building concept that when initiated properly will have great benefit to all invested parties. Student's for the growth that comes from using new skills in a way that directly benefits people, community members for the connection and resulting benefit of the SL project and educational institutions for the amity that it provides the communities they are involved with.

A reminder of how important communication and "Buy in" are.

Both community and 4-year colleges use service learning as an integral part of students.

My students love the service learning that is implemented into our coursework. Often, these experiences provide them with additional internship opportunities. Some have even gone on to work summer jobs with many of our organizations.

Service learning shows what may be involved in that career. Being told stories from people has nothing on going thru it themselves.

Too bad my school wants to take away service learning from my students.

Though service learning comes with many challenges, creating authentic experiences like this for students is very much worth the effort. I appreciated this part of the lesson as it addressed the ability for service learning opportunities to impact students' self-confidence.

Service learning is an essential part to any program preparing students for community work.

Students get real world experience and the community gets a to help the school! Sounds like with Service Learning, everyone wins!

Opportunities for service learning are growing and their value is recognized by students, faculty and community participants.

Service learning is an important tool for students to learn how their community can benefit from the skills they are learning in school.

Service Learning is a part of our learning curriculum.  Students are required to not only participate in campus activities, but also are to do volunteer service in their field of study.

The Service Learning program gives the students real condition experience. this helps prepare them to function in the given field of employment post graduation. It also helps them develop confidence in their skills and abilities. Being able to actively use the skills learned in the classroom in real life settings helps them see the value of their training and acquired knowledge.

Most important piece I took from this section, "Service learning enriches the learning of course material. Students often raise the question: "Why do I have to learn this material?" The answer to this question can be seen through service learning. "

"The challenge of implementation can be met by developing a clear identification of the goals of service learning and the resulting outcomes." I still face issues with students questioning why the service learning class is integral to the program, and the difference between it and an internship. I'm excited to take what I've learned in this module and apply it to my course and communicating the goals of the course accurately to my students.

i am hopeful to further develop the service learning aspects in my classroom
