How come this is not a requirement for ALL schools? Is there some regulation that needs to be done, that prevents it from being an all-around requirement?

Discussing Tuition

I realize that as an 'agent', we are not the primary source for the tuition/FA information. However, when we are asked questions, how do we address the ones we are not supposed to answer? Do we say "let me get somebody for you", "I'm not sure" - I don't want to lose the confidence of the student, by appearing less-than-knowledgeable, though I know I'm not supposed to discuss certain things.

Transfer of credit

I have been trained to say that transfer credits will be determined based on the receiving school but that I should direct them towards the registrar before saying anything else. Thoughts?

A good way to keep up

I am new to this role and I was offered some great advice that I thought others could benefit from. I was struggling with how to learn each of the programs in order to better serve the students and someone on my team told me that a great way to sort everything out is to look at one program offered each week and learn as much as possible about that course in that week. That way you can slowly build a solid foundation of knowledge.

How long does an agent’s permit last?

Resource Notebook

I have the laws given in this module saved to my computer, but I was wondering if anyone has all their information on a computer instead of in an actual paper resource book? I have notifications set up in my computer to let me know when forms, policies, references, etc. are changed within our system. Is there a benefit to this or would it still be reccommended to establish a notebook?

my journey

I just obtained a position for a nationwide institution and I am very excited to see how the rest of the training goes!

Course training

This course provided some very informative material and helped me feel a lot more comfortable with my current pursuit of a career in admissions.

Each school is required to have a policy regarding the transferability of credits. It is important to locate the transfer policies for your institution, read and print them, and place them in your Resource Notebook. Some schools accept transfer credits from other institutions and some do not.

There are a few ways to use your notebook and keep it up to date. You can wait for your supervisor to give you information. You can also seek out the information from the other staff members. You can ask questions. You must do whatever it takes to ensure you have the most current and accurate information plus the forms that you need to complete the admissions process.

It is not a requirement to offer housing to those who request it.

If the institution you work for supports Title IV financial aid programs, you must inform the prospective student of all of his/her options regarding this information. It is important to be knowledgeable of such programs to be more effective in helping the student.

New to Admissions

I am new to admissions and am beyond estatic to work in the department. I have experienced a lot going through my education experience and getting my degree. I can not wait to relate my experience to future students objections. This role does not seem difficult but you need to know an abundance of information and watch for small details. My goal is to stay in touch with my future students; I know if I made my certain objections work with schooling that my students can as well. Sometimes they just need that fire lit and for someone to push them!
