Goals

I just started my role in Student affairs, on reflection while I was going through the training materials. I realized that in the next few months, I am setting goals for myself that will help my students and the community. Gaining knowledge is something, what do we do with the knowledge gained is another thing, how does this impact on the students, staff, myself and the community at large. What do I do with new knowledge and the anticipated challenges.

The knowledge gained will help me strengthened how to meet student needs, reduce risks, and create a supporting pathway.

Learning the frameworks and regulations relevant to my role is one of my goals, including accountability, student services guidelines and reporting requirements.

By doing so, start building relationships with key staff and departments to understand workflows.  Apply new knowledge to real case scenarios.

Compliance

Knowing your product, being honest and truthful, and not exaggerating, will keep you in compliance.

More Than a Legal Requirement, an Ethical Commitment

Hi everyone! As part of the Admissions and Records team, it is essential that we analyze how we communicate our academic offerings. According to the standards of the Commission for Independent Education (CIE), all advertising must be factual and not misleading, ensuring that all illustrations and materials faithfully represent our institution.
A critical point in our work is avoiding "implied promises." Florida law explicitly prohibits guaranteeing or implying a guarantee of employment or specific salary levels to prospective students. Our communication must always clearly state that we are offering training and education, not a job opportunity.
Furthermore, any placement claims or salary projections we use must be based on reliable statistical data and include proper citations of the source.
Question for the group: How do you believe we can effectively highlight the benefits and quality of our Bachelor and Master programs without crossing the line into making prohibited promises of guaranteed employment?

How will you stay in compliance?

Staying in compliance is extremely important. What is one best practice you will use to help your institution?

The Importance of Staying Current with Florida Compliance Requirements

Working in admissions and student services requires constant attention to regulatory updates and institutional policies. Florida compliance standards are designed to protect students, ensure transparency, and maintain the integrity of educational institutions. Staying informed through training, policy updates, and collaboration with colleagues is essential to maintaining licensure and delivering accurate information to prospective students. I believe ongoing education and open discussion within professional groups like this help strengthen our practices.
