Discussion

I just started my role in Student affairs, on reflection while I was going through the training materials. I realized that in the next few months, I am setting goals for myself that will help my students and the community. Gaining knowledge is something, what do we do with the knowledge gained is another thing, how does this impact on the students, staff, myself and the community at large. What do I do with new knowledge and the anticipated challenges.

The knowledge gained will help me strengthened how to meet student needs, reduce risks, and create a supporting pathway.

Comment on Diana Burbano's post: I agree student services is as important as the programs itself. Therefore, student services should be able to sign post for students.

In my experience, the organization's alumni are also important for students' post-graduation to maintain that relationship and utilize this for networking leveraging resources etc

Depending on the size of the institution, it varies whether admission representative can go into details of financial aid. However, it is imperative that as part of the admission team, to be equipped with current events regarding financial aid, so we can sign post.

A well organized and detail oriented is an important quality to have for admission representative, as we have to ensure that student admission folder is organized accordingly.

I've learned that statutory, rules and regulations are constantly changing - subject to change. It's important to verify information whether they current or out of date.
