Syllabus Routine

Sometimes, When I give out syllabi that have been modified from previous instructors (since I'm a new instructor and still perfecting my own), I find my students just ignore it. How can I show the importance of the syllabus to the students?

What are the differences?

I feel as though the differences between syllabus, objectives, curriculum, content should all be defined and differentiated more clearly. What does everyone think?

One teacher's trash is another teacher's treasure.

Most teachers tend to go with their strengths. Some teachers have charisma and can wow the student with a lecture. Others can dazzle them with their hands on skills. I say stick with what works best for you and make sure it is working with your students. Work on any weakness you have and improve on it. Make sure your students are following you through the course. Anyone who said you need no more than 5-7 steps have never put together a battery operated jeep for a child. You may need 5-7 sets of those 5-7 steps. Just make sure each set is precise. I honestly believe that you not only grade yourself. Let some students grade you. Don't say "So how did I do tonight?" Maybe ask the student how they did and were they able to keep pace understand the steps and felt good about the outcome. No teacher wants to find out how well the students did on final exam day. I think everyday deserved a grade for both the teacher and the student. Understand being a top teacher is hitting on 95% or better. Nobody is going to be perfect.

Delivering Course Content

Excellent course! I can apply what I learned immediatly to my class. Lots of new techniques learned

Really helped

This course really helped me think about how to deliver my course content in diferent ways. To expand on my teaching skills even more.

Not all first classes are the same.

With students rotating in or out of class every 3 months, the dynamic is always changing. There is the fear of a small group or even just one student fitting in. I always start new students off on labs with my most experienced students. It let's them know they have support the very first day.

First Impressions

You never have a second chance to make a first impression. This statement is very true when applied to teaching college level courses. Take time to introduce yourself and allow students to share information about themselves.

ED106

This lesson was very educational. It gave me some good ideas on how to conduct a better class and to keep my students attention focus on the subject and the instructor.

First Impressions

First impressions are so important especially to command the classroom and gain th respect of the students.

I have never developed a syllabus

The syllabus that I have seen, the career school put together, but it's good to know what needs to be included on onw.

Lesson Planning

Is key to your students Learning environment. Instructors must know the content inside and out to have a great confidence to pass on to the students. Students make mistakes and tend to be more apt not to try it a second time with out confidence . So delivery of content and backing it with confidence will take them through there everyday task.

Class for the 1st time.

Is a exciting and can be nerve racking being a new instructor . The more class i have instructed the easier i see it is. to see the students for the 1st time and to have them be part of campus is very exciting.

Planning and preparation.

Our campus is complete digital . Which can a bless and a curse in disguise. Preparing is done on a everyday basis through everyday research and daily outcomes. Not every class is the same .

ED 101

Instruction a class with all different ways of learning is my challenge. Most student that are self motivated are the students that are able to learn faster while there drive is the best learning tool they have.
