Student Learning Assessment

Assessment is the tool that measures how well the students achieve the learner outcomes. What do you want the students to know and be able to do? Did you take into account your students' prior knowledge. Assessment should be seamless and ongoing. Are you evaluating continuously throughout the project? You will want to think of ways to assess the process as well as the product of their learning. Here are some things to remember about assessment and some resources to read about assessment. The most important element of performance assessment is engagability. To evaluate your project, you need to determine if your students were allowed: To be engrossed in challenging learning. To learn by doing. To be able to use the computer effectively when appropriate. To communicate their learning.

Questioning in classroom

Using good questioning techniques in the classroom can help promote positive student learning. When utilizing questions in your daily lessons, you will allow the students to direct their own learning. Learning something through discovery is a more effective method of learning that will lead to improved memory and greater student involvement. Consider how to include questions in each lesson you teach.

Learning styles of students

Learning styles of students include tactile, visual and auditory. Not all teaching styles align with the specific learning styles of their students. It is unlikely for a teacher to have a classroom full of all visual learners. Therefore, it is up to educators to adjust their teaching style to cover a variety of learning styles. Meeting the needs of all learners is important Read more: Learning & Teaching Styles | eHow.com http://www.ehow.com/how_7321092_learning-teaching-styles.html#ixzz1T8o5aLki Auditory Learners Students with this style will be able to recall what they hear and will prefer oral instructions. Introduction

Introduction to the class helps easy the tension with the students

Preparation

When an instructor is prepared for the class , it helps ease the tension that he/ or she is ready to begin with a foundation of the course teaching. He or she has a firm knowledge of the course and material being presented

Motivation to your students

Know It All Student

How do you handle the student who wants to answer every question?

Too Much Personal Information in Introductions

Many universities, especially online, require students to introduce themselves, giving some background, accomplishments and experience they have in the course topics. Instructors typically respond to each and every student, welcoming them to the class and giving a personalized reply. How do you handle those that give way too much personal information?

Licensing Questions

This module discusses licensing and certifications. Do you have a site or sites that you refer students to when they have questions about licensing and certifications? If so, what are they? Do you discuss these in class? Do you teach towards material that is covered in the exams for these? Is there anywhere a student can go, on campus, to find information about those required in their chosen field?

Diversity in the Classroom

I've been teaching in brick and mortar colleges, as well as online, since the mid-nineties. I find that in online courses especially, there is a diversity of students; in cultures, learning styles, languages, attitudes and expectations. How do you accommodate these differences in your students, making each and every one of them feel they are valued in the classroom and should respect one another?

Teaching online

I am also thinking of transitioning to the online learning community. Is there a market for subject matter experts who are seasoned in their field, certified, registered, and experienced on ground instructors who lack a formal Bachelor's degree? This is a vocational allied health career in pharmacy technician practicum.

demonstrations!

Hands on and demonstrations make for an exciting class experience!!

introduction

Key to making yourself and your students comfortable in your class and running smooth!!

forum

Keeping your students infored is a vitale role of having a sucessful class!!

great course

Don't become a pal.......big difference then a friend, don't want it to take away from our class!

Preparation

Fail to prepare, and prepare to fail. I create detailed outlines of my speaking points for every class, including when to access additional materials, such as PowerPoints. Mind you, these are just outlines. If you read verbosely from a sheet of paper, you will lose the attention of the class. My outlines are essentially guidleines with a few words to remind me where I am in my lecture.

Motivation

How do you keep students motivated?

To Do list

Making a list is important because will keep us from leaving anything out...

Starting on Time

I also find this to be a very important point. I make a deal with my students early on: show up on time, and I'll let you out on time. It has proven to be very effective, but of course loses its teeth if I'm not starting on time.
