At my institution I am conducting the assessment report for each of the courses in the computer science program. When I was first introduced to it, my question was “What is assessment?” I knew about homework, quizzes, exams, etc. and that at the end you’ll perform a summary to obtain a grade. Now I know that assessment is the design of a test that it is supposed to measure and tell if the objectives of the class are being met. This is the main reason why I am taking this on-line course. The third module did help me understand more about the class assessment.

Make the classroom fun so the students will want to come to class everyday. Give them incentives to want to come to school everyday.Remind them how important all of this will be when they are out in the field working. An employer will not put up with them if they are not motivated or doesn't want to come to class/work everyday. The student needs to treat school like a job.

I've only taught this class once before and I learn best in lectures, as I'm not big on group projects or discussion. My ol' introvert coming out! But I want to have a more active learning environment. I don't usually have a problem garnering discussion, but I think even a change in the classroom layout may be in order...

Everyday I learn something new with my students

After teaching a term I got to know what type of styles my students took for learning and studying. I am one of those people that I have to write down things. Take notes. I had one classmate that would just lean back in his chair and just take it all in. Now I know there are people that can just listen BUT when they take tests and fail them then I need to talk to them about there style of learning.

When you are introducing a controversial subject that you know will cause strong reactions among many in the class, what are some of the techniques that you have used to diffuse tension before it begins.

I learned some key things I will for sure bring to the classroom

I do find the students fare a little better when they have clear expectations of the instructor

The way I approach Excellerated learing is to be approachable and to be interested in the information the I have to offer as well as the questions that the students ask.

I feel like I am having a difficult time reaching the majority of my students. Do I feel they like me yes but that sad boring look on their face that I see when I look at them drives me crazy

I thought this course was very informative. However it seems at my institution because of the wide range of various age groups that we teach; its hard to teach in a manner that all or most benefit from Rashanda

by asking questions you can gauge how well your students are understanding the material you are covering. if, all the questions are answered correctly you can either move in new material or make your questions a little harder or more detailed so you better challege them.

I am not the type of instructor to lecture all the time. I see some instructors do that but I feel you lose interest in the students. You need to find ways into keeping them interested.

Some of the instructors I worked with don't do lesson plans. I didn't understand at first on why to do them because I never taught before. When I got my first class then I realized why lesson plans need to be done. Being prepared is very very important.

My first term I taught I had a student that had an opinion about everything I said. I didn't know how to deal with the situation at first but after awhile she backed off. I needed her to trust me I think and believe I knew what I was talking about.

What is an easy way to engage all members of the class? How do you pull out the ones who don't engage and not shun the ones who always answer?

"Learn" Gives the students a variety of course contents.

You are setting good first impressions to the students by , planning, being pre-prepared, and setting a comfortable enviroment for learning.

Plan and simply helps you or oranizr your time, and set the confident standard to the students. Helps in assiting you that class instruction were covered.

Its very important to have an open mind and remember that every year our demographics change in our students.We as instructor have to improve continously.
