Creating effective assessment

Sometimes I twists my questions. I make sure that the thought is still there.

Student learning assessment

What I like on this part is that after giving the quiz & the result is good, I know that I did the lecture very well. It's very rewarding to know that they are learning.

disability

it is also important not to single out a student that needs assistance due to a learning disability.

groups

how do you deal with the same student always taking charge of their small group

First impression the first day of class

Your first impression should always be the best as well as continue trought out the course of teaching. It should always be proffesional in the way of speaking as well as the way of dress.

Intruct with more then whats given

It is alway a good idea for an instructor to use other sources of learnig material for students to research what ever is being taight in the course.

Molding the minds of your students

I belive it is very important for an instructor to have a prominent background in the field of which they are teaching in order to help mold the minds of there student in learning. Not only will you be teching them but you can also provide live experiences in the field to better provide an understanding of what is being taught.

Planning

Instructors should plan how your instructional delivery will address different learning styles

Taking a Management role is more than telling people what to do

As a manager you must make sure the learning environment is safe and supportive.

Fil in the blank questions

When dealing with highly technical material, it is often less confusing for the student if they are allowed to expand on the answer and not limiting them to a multiple choice situation.

Teacher/Student Q & A

It is helpful to allow each student to ask the instructor a question as a mean to review material being discussed.

Incorporating Hands On Experience

During lecture, it is helpful to bring outequipment, et, being discused and allowing students to handle them.

Creating incouragement

a positive teaching enivornment give students incouragement

Short Lessons

Hello Everyone, When conducting my class I find that short 15-20 minute activities every 2 hours or so refocuses the students and puts them on the right track once again. My classes are normally 5 hours long so those 15-20 minute presentation really do help to break the silence of just doing work on the computer. Though my students are learning by doing even this can become very tedious. Thanks. K. Sweet

A Supportive Learning Environment

Hello Everyone, I try to give my students the opportunity to understand my expectations when they first arrive in the classroom. Their abilities are not limited to what we learn in the classroom I like to give them other resources and support their success in the course as we go along. I always make sure that I am available to help them and they feel comfortable in asking questions and giving their opinions. Thanks. K. Sweet

Instructional Style

Instructional Styles involves helping my students in wrapping together their personalities and competencies into a presentation format that will soon inform, encourage, and instruct them. Angela Monley

Praise

I agree and have seen that praise can be much over-used. It definitely devalues future attempts at praise and is something that takes practice and skill. For instance, overuse of praise can lead some students to feel unfavored by an instructor- if the instructor tends to praise certain students (i.e., the more vocal ones) more often than others. Interesting concepts that should be reviewed very often.

Disabilities

How do you manage the student who uses his/her disabilty as a crutch?

Translator

Students learn in different ways. Audio can be very successful. Suggestions anyone in this diverse population?
