Staying up on the new technologies is important for the visual student. Visual aids of all types are a benefit because if the student visualize a theory sometime you cut the lecture time down to size. Audio student can often grasp the information faster but you risk loosing some student in the explanation.

It is crucial to know the standards of the field in order to relate valuable and current information for the students. Keeping abreast of current trends shows that you are giving the latest information and how relevant the material to the present moment.

I am not a fan of the extra credit, nor am I a fan of bonus questions on exams. My department however does a lot of bonus questions all exam but the final. I have continued this as well but I am making mine worth precentage points instead of question vaule point. I would rather just not have them. comments?

The fisrt thing I do when starting whith a new group of students is to have a relaxed conversation with all of them tring to make it sound and feel as casual as possible but always staing in topic, this is being helping me to identify the base knowledge of my students as well as getting them to relax in such an abstract topic (Linux OS), also they have the opportunity to get to know me better and to take the rest of the class with interest as we go on some relevant examples an something they don't know yet.

Considering that most people have different abilities and disabilities, as well as learning styles, I would question the to opening statement about how information is acquired. If this scenario were true, blind or hearing impaired students would not be able to learn.

to be prepared for the lecture,lab some times I use a short note and mentioning my own experiences and some important info using the other resources bringing up funny stories during lecture to kept my student more engage and focused.

I Really like the idea of standardized a lesson plan and putting your own personal experience and expertise into the curriculum...I think students will be more interested to the subject with out being board and restless!!!

It is so important to have a lesson plan, it will engaging students to the subject and giving teachers a piece of mind and make them more organize..

If I finish quicker, I would questioning some of my students from the subject that I thought...and that way students will always focused more in the subject of the day, In case if I asking them question.

I use Utube videos to emphasize course content in the criminal justice field and the emergency response field. There is an endless and up to date amount of videos that help to explain and visualize what really occurs in the real world.

It is helpful to know school policy regarding make up work and having policy in writing. Discuss with students the procedure for make up work, and penalties for late assignments.

I have experienced many instances of students who have inadequate background it is helpful to be aware of options to offer these students such as student learning groups, a pretest, offering study guides, referral to other resources, and individual help.

It is important to use a variety of mediums to present course information to keep students attention, reach a all types of learner, and visual strategies are most important in learning and retention of information.

It is important to develop insight about personality attributes to understand how specific traits can influence students in both negative and positive ways. An effective teacher should continually assess strengths and weaknesses to accommodate the changing group dynamics with each new class/group of students.

One of the biggest concerns for me is making sure I have a complete lesson plan that not only encompasses the time in class, but also has some extra material in case we get through a lecture or activity early.

How often should assessments be given to students if a class is 4 days a week - 4 hours a day?
