Pre-tests

I have been giving my students pre-tests since I began teaching. They have been very helpful in guiding me to put more emphasis on the areas that they are not as strong in.

Power Points

This section is very helpful with giving me ideas to make power point slides. I had never heard of the 10/20/30 rule. Very helpful stuff!

Teaching Style

I had never really thought about my teaching style before. This section really gave me something to think about and reflect on. As well as giving me a direction to go in. I never reralized I was a statue instructor and I personally don't care for those types of instructors.

Effective lesson plan

Preparation or creating a lesson plan, one should decide what to to be added in the lesson plan, is this material going to be effective on students and how much knowledge students going to gain out of it.

importance of lesson plan

Lesson plan is a outcome of course what it contains. Projects, class works, home works assignments and their dead line and date of the quizzes and tests as well. So basically lesson plan is a very essential for instructors. At the same time lesson plan helps instructors to figure out how much material or note to put together as per the class timings.

Deciding what to teach

Lesson plan is very important for instructors. Lesson plan clarifies teaching and learning very clearly. Students will understand what they are going to learn and for teachers, they can collect the teaching material in advance and teach step by step.

Late Tests

Hi, Is it alright to give students more than one chance to take a test on the same day? Or should you wait to retest? Thanks, Andy

Instruction

Hi, Is it important to take frequent breaks in the classroom? My math class is four hours long with just one ten minute break. Is this too little of time? Talk soon, Andy

Powerpoints

Hi, When developing PowerPoints, I tell students to never use complete sentences on the final product unless if they are using a short quote or words on an image. Is this good practice? Thanks, Andy

Preparation

Hi, I typically put the daily events on a side board. Is it good to develop this routine in the class? Thanks, Andy

Time Management

As a professor I must say time management very important.Planing ahead of time course material manages time very well.

EGB

By keeping the Electronic grade Book current, I am able to quick reference students' progress and advise them of any trouble areas.

Pre-test

Using the pre-test has been a great tool for me to get a sense of the student's abilities and where to focus most.

Training

When teaching the welding techniques, we have to use a great deal of repetition. Muscle memory can be called training.

Teacher style

Examining myself has been a great improvement tool for me. I have to be brutally honest in my evaluation.

Jeopardy

I play a game of Textile jeopardy with my class just before mid-term and the again before finals. All the students get really into it and every single time I have had great success with that. It helps student remember all the stuff we have done previously. They also like it that I devote an entire class period for preperation for the test. After jeopardy I give them trial swatches to practice and guide them through how to write the the answers. It is surprising that the students nay know the answer but need to be guided as to how to go about writing the answer in a meaning full and concise way and at the same time learn to finish the test on time.

Preparing for class

Each class needs to be planned and exercised in a logical and clear way. I usually have handouts and in-class assignmnets each class. I make it a point to have them printed and ready for distribution before each class. I also show videos and I make it point to have tvs or flashdrives etc. all organized before the class begins. I think a little bit of planning goes a long way to show students how to be professional and that we care about their time and success.

SUPPORT MATERIAL

USESING SUPPORT MATERIAL IN THE CLASS ROOM HELP KEEP THE STUDENTS ENGAGE.

LEARNING OBJECTIVE

YOU WANT TO MAKE SURE YOUR STUDENT UNDERSTAND YOUR OBJECTIVE FOR THE LESSON SO THEY CAN APPLY IT TO THE SUBJECT THAT YOU ARE TEACHING SO THEY CAN STAY IN TUNE WITH THE SUBJECT.

Discussing Grades with Students

Letting students know where they are academically keeps the students aware of their progress. The instructor is able to guide the student where needed.
