Using music to help online learners

Obviously, this is not a scientifically proven method, but I think that using music can be helpful in online learning. The fact is that there are a lot of young professionals that do not have the time to take traditional classroom courses; therefore, you can choose appropriate music to gain the attention of those easily distracted students.

Edward Greetings and Salutations I believe it has been proven the benefits of music in learning environments. Howard Gardner studied the multiple intelligences. Not every student will benefit but those that need it, definitely will. I am an LMT and I use and utilize music in the classroom. The volume is just low enough to be heard yet not distracting.

I really like the idea of adding music as a background to an online learning class. Of course it would need to be soft and soothing. It can help students relax and concentrate on the subject matter better.

As Gardner pointed out, there are different learning styles. I personally cannot concentrate when there is music on because I get lost in the music. My sister, on the other  hand, studies her best with background music- and she is an ace! So music needs to be considered on a personal basis. However, as a language learning tool - it is exceptional when used with popluar, rhythmic and almost hypnotic  beats ( think The Weekend, Despacito, etc!)
