Student really need to feel you are concern about their self as well as their education.

I am reminded from this course, the importance of providing time for ongoing contact and communication with the students.

Communicate with the students via assignment messaging, LMS inbox messaging, SIS email and text messaging and phone communications. Increase communications with students doing well. Maintain a 7 days-a-week open phone policy to provide encouragement and guidance to help the students achieve their goals.

By creating early and ongoing, positive, connection with students, we are able to have higher retention rates.

I intend to focus on connection before correction and identification of at risk students quickly; document every interaction.

Relationship is what humans do foundationally. All else is built on this.

Always strive to make the student the center of your goals

It’s important to treat students with respect and lots of encouragement, especially when students feel they are behind.

Stronger the relationships between students, classmates, and faculty provides for stronger retention rates.

It is important to respond to students in a timely manner.  I always get feedback from my students that I respond quickly, they appreicate that.

It is important for instructors to make sure that all students feel that they are important. Engaging with your students whether online or in the classroom is vital to retention.

I am a new Clinical Instructor for the Dental Hygiene Program. I do not teach an online class however I find that in any teaching atmosphere, the student/professor relationship is very important to the student engagement and retention. It must be a trust relationship fostered by an active listening, supportive learning, respectful communication.

As a new instructor, I have already learned that setting expectations was key in student success. I have learned that I could build greater trust with students through improved communication regarding things like availability for extra help and advising.

Communication and engagement is essential for a positive online course to be successful.

Building supportive relationships with students is essential for retention and completion of programs.

In this module, I’ve learned that best practices for maximizing the working environment with students are clearly defined. It’s evident that empathy, genuine interaction, and positive exchange form the foundation for effective teamwork and enrich professional collaboration. These principles not only foster stronger relationships but also create a more supportive and productive learning atmosphere.

I learned about retention factors and an incredible financial loss from absence of retention. The loss is also in chance to provide a quality education that did not happen either. How campus climate is important to student retention.

Knowing your students and what's going on in their lives helps you understand what they're dealing with outside of school.

Be clear and concise from the beginning.  Ensure interaction with students is frequent, constructive, and feedback is received and communicated.
