Communication is a very important aspect of online teaching.

It was interesting to reflect on what is my 'effective teaching patterm" and consider areas of improvement.

use the chat option for students to make comments

Content delivery is a major part of teaching online.

It's important to develop synchronous/asynchronous course content that aligns with the nature of the course and the objectives of the students.  Clarity and organization are key no matter what.

Asynchronous learning can be used for scalable lessons.

Students should enter the Virual classroom 5 to 10 minutes early to test their equipment.

Providing an area for students can reflect a place for learning.

I can incorporate a mix of asynchronous and synchronous learning methods in teaching culinary arts. I can prerecord my cooking demonstrations for Students to watch and practice independently while hosting in-person demonstrations for real-time feedback. Students can also collaborate with their peers through group projects and discussions, which will help enhance their learning experience.

Because asynchronous learning does not happen in a physical building at a specific time, it is that much more imperative to be organized and obvious in clarifying where everything is in the virtual classroom to ensure student success.

There are advantages and disadvantages to synchronous and asynchronous formats.

It is important to decide a teaching method between synchronous and asynchronous, but can even have a combination of both. Then choosing a teaching pattern that works for our courses and students

I would say a little of both

Communication and organization are  key components when teaching students.

Regardless of asynchronous or synchronous- faculty need to be timely and communicate well with students, have information centrally located and respond timely.

Irrespective of the method (synchronous or asynchronous) employed for teaching the course, organization and adequate guidelines are key requisites. For an effective learning experience of the students, consistency in course design, activities, and teaching style are essential.

Both asynchronous and synchronous have benefits to learning as well as draw backs I like the idea of front-loading information but also allowing the students to have live peer interactions as they can be more engaging than simply using asynchronous methods alone.

I have learned that both synchronous and asynchronous learning have their place in a virtual learning environment. The choice between the two depends on various factors, including the nature of the course, the preferences of the students, and the available resources.

The unit on "establishing a pattern of teaching" will be invaluable in enhancing student learning. (This was an entirely new piece of information for me -- I had only been familiar with this in how I prepared my syllabus.)
