El pensamiento crítico debe ser impulsado en las aulas y las instituciones educativas en mayor medida.
It is up to the instructor to guide reasoning. Some students want to complete the course and go home. If you allow the environment to become safe and stimulating it sets the stage for critical thinking
Critical thinking is much more difficult to cultivate than discipline. Critical thinking can save lives. Discipline is the aptitude to be a critical thinker. In our healthcare setting, new nurse are finding it difficult to think critically more so when they are in a code situation. I think it is important for all educational system to begin teaching critically to students to prevent the embarrassment when college students graduate, apply for a job, and do not know how to answer a critical thinking question during the interview.
I enjoyed being able to identify more clearly what is a critical thinker. Regarding how I will apply what I have learned, I plan to have my students analyze the kitchen workflow and suggest ways to improve and increase efficiency. Throughout the sanitation unit, students will be able to identify potential hazards in the kitchen and take appropriate measures to correct them. Students can apply their critical thinking to recipe creation while evaluating recipes for needed adjustments based on personal preference and dietary restrictions. While creating menus, students can analyze the nutritional content, cost, and flavor profiles of different dishes to create a well-balanced menu.
Helping the students to develop critical thinking skills
The reframing of discipline as a process of development for critical thinkers to encourage the investment of time and effort.
What have you learned from this module and how do you intend to apply it?
Since we need nurses that are good at critical thinking, I must find ways to get my students to apply logic to their critical thinking. I enjoy using a Socratic method when in class and clinical. The module information is accurate when it says that students are uncomfortable when asked questions about the why-why do you think that? why do you think this is true? etc. Educators must help students push through that discomfort so they can become better at critical thinking.
Its unfortunate that students expect to just show up in class without having to produce work. The concept of discipline she be discussed with students and incorporated.
I like that one has to be disciplined in order to really make a good judgement. It's not based on emotions or spur of the moment.
As future nurses, the students are going to be required to think critically; whether it may be on standardized test or with a patient.
Incorporating teaching methods that will allow the students to become skilled at critical thinking will be beneficial to them and to their immediate community.
My ability to foster critical thinking in my students is directly related to how I present the material and the questions I ask. I will use this knowledge in lesson planning.
Discipline and judgement is crucial when examining characteristics of a critical thinker.
Determine the question. Gather as much pertinent knowledge as possible. Be sure to ask more questions and have discussions that can further this knowledge and then, make a decision based on that knowledge. Deliver the information in a sensitive and precise way.
As an instructor I can pose more questions to my students to help them develop their critical thinking.
It’s up to the instructor to guide the students and learn different learning styles , so students can stay on board and not loose sight of what is being taught ,but to learn and grow with the knowledge the obtained and developed a growth mindset . Instructors need to put their words into action by showing examples so student can follow and learn and identify .
To exhibit self discipline, my own knowledge fused with a peer's to come to an in depth understanding. Utilizing critical thinking skills in daily life both personally and professionally.
Understanding critical thinking is vital to personal growth and professional development to articulate ideas and working with others
Let students debate to a point, but there is a limit that you must set to maintain civility.
Critical thinking requires the use of effective types of questions.
Discipline for both student and teacher, myself, is important. I need to know good questions that will give them opportunity to think and will be good examples for themselves.
