To keep students engaged, teachers need to get out of their comfort zones at times and think out side the box.     Teachers need to show students that they are near, since there is no F2F contact.  An ongoing task is to build sound relationships with your students that fosters their on learning advancement. 

Understand the role of facilitator, using proper engagement, manage expectations, use clear communication, foster critical thinking and discussions, value student opinions, use proper assessments. 

I teach a hybrid course.  I try to take time to answer any questions during the virtual classroom period.  I also make myself available by email or by a specific teams meeting to help with the asynchronous part of the course.   I try to teach in a Socratic method that develops the students engagement in class and sets a tone for the discussion boards quizzes and assignments,

I have learned that learning your teaching styles is imperative to finding the right fit for classroom technology.  I teach in F2F with Teams.  My learning platform is Canvas.  This allows me to find the best supporting technology to enhance the course for students.  

To pass on my passion and intrinsic motivation to my students.  To empower them to understand that learning for its own sake is the greatest reward. 

I start each class with a general understanding of what we will cover and an opportunity to go over any question from prior lessons.  I tend to use a Socratic method.  I will lecture and then open up a question.  For example I may lecture on a concept and then ask a current event question to help illustrate the concept.   I always allow students to ask questions and will even go a little off topic.  Then I will take the question and response and relate them back to the topic at hand.  

My students have typically been told they are not good enough or smart enough, etc.  They tend to have only been exposed to biological and external motivation.   If you can encourage and empower them to develop a higher sense of self,  above their wants and needs, and to see that purpose can be best centered around helping and supporting those around them- they tend to want to develop better Critical Thinking and Emotional Intelligence skills.   

Our goal is to help the syudemt to define what sucess means to them.  We help the shape their career goals.  We show tham that goals are interactive.  We help them learn to balance goals and areas of their lives.  We teach them proper formats for inteaction.  We key them into the pitfalls and provide lessons to help the become successful students. 

Master your LMS.   Give students a wide array of options to learn.  Help assess their technical skills and give the opportunities to enhance those skills. 

As an instructor, we set the tone of the class.   The class will communicate with us and each others by the example we set.  If we have claer and consice expectations and objectives, so will our students.   Our stdudents will become more engaged if we bring passion to our classes and let them participate and bring their own passion.
