This is a general discussion forum for the following learning topic:

Questioning in the Classroom --> Question Types and Their Value

Post what you've learned about this topic and how you intend to apply it. Feel free to post questions and comments too.

The syllabus in this course was easy to follow and made more sense that the last few syllabuses.

Closed end questions are not "bad."

Different question types encourage engagement and critical thinking. I plan to use a variety of questions to promote deeper learning.

I like the difference phrasing when trying to see if your material is sticking with the students.

The different question types such as open and closed, have different ways it could help the students. Open ended questions allow the students to show the instructor, what they know and demonstrate it verbally. and closed helps a student show their memorization skills.

I can often tell when I've used the wrong kind of questioning and am able to follow it up with the right kind.  The classifications in this module help to understand why one type is better or more appropriate for a particular situation.

It stops "autopilot" teaching. By knowing these categories, an instructor can plan a mix of question types before class starts.

It was interesting to view the open ended question as an opportunity for the student to actually teach the answer to the other students.

I learned the different classifications of questions and the value of posing your questions as open ended questions.

I have learned that different types of questions will help the instructor understand how much a student has learned from the topic. It is also important to ask different types of questions to help keep the students engaged.

Different types of questions serve different purposes. Some check basic facts, while others push students to think deeper or apply what they know. I plan to mix in more open‑ended and application‑focused questions to keep my students thinking, talking, and connecting the lessons to real situations.

The types of questions and how to use them effectively

I learned the classification system for different types of questions. How to use both open and closed ended questions. I also learned how to pose question as to not intimidate students.

Questions are a major component in the discussion board to keep things going. Students are able to use this opportunity to learn more and glean additional experiences from their peers.

I usually make sure to give students time to ask questions, but I think I can do it in a better way.

Open ended questions let the student expand on a topic.

Open ended questions are a good approach for an effective learning.

The use of timing and response times when asking questions.

Br rewording my questions to the students I may get a better result
