Agents vs Representatives

I understand that Agents are allowed to work outside of campus - they're allowed to attend events and work in the students' homes. However, about their specific licensure.. 1. They're also 1-year licenses (Representatives also have to re-license every year), correct? 2. What's the non-transferable part of things affect? Are Representatives licenses transferable? (I'm just not sure why it made sure to mention that an Agent's license was non-transferable). 3. Are Representatives not licensed by the Commission? 4. If Representatives ARE licensed by the Commission (as Agents are, as well), then how come only Agents' resignations/dismissals require the Commission's notification? Sam

Is a grad continuing on for another program considered "placement"?

I've worked for a school that had a high placement rate but learned that students who continue on for another degree OR even if they're not working in their field but they're nonetheless working somewhere, they're considered "placed". I'm not sure how other schools identify a "placement" but it seems some can skate around a true placement in their field.

Revocation of license

It is important to stay up to date with rules and regulations to avoid any ethical violations that may result in severe negative consequences.

If student is less than 18 they need the parents signature

It is very important that the student has the parent signature if they are less than 18 and at the same time the parents can provide support and encouragement. I believe that this will help the student perform well and finish the degree program, in my experience parent involvement is extremely beneficial for young student success.

Advertising

A truthful and honest advertsiing campaign speaks highly of the school and its staff.

Changing lives

I am glad that the role of admissions officers and staff is well defined and that we should not steer from the primary goal which is to provide information in the students benefit.

Getting the potential student to a yes!

Having all the correct information is a good way to get the potential students to yes. What do you do additional that helps them feel secure with the school?

transfer of credits

How does this apply to clock hours?

Transfer of Credits

Do programs need to be 100% the same for credits to actually transfer over?

placement

Is it mandatory to advise on placement?

Job Placement

As an Admissions Representative why is it our job to talk about Job Placement? Isn't that what Career Development is for, especially considering if a school doesn't even offer job placement in the first place?

How Can it Be your Fault?

The last question stated that if we are not informed of a change in the institution, as an Admissions Representative, that we are at fault if we incorrectly give a prospective student wrong information? That doesn't necessarily make sense, considering we deliver the information passed down to us.

Admissions Rep. liability.

Why is the admissions representative required to miraculously have the knowledge of whether he/she has the proper training or not?

Agents vs Representatives

Why are Agents allowed to go to prospective students homes and Representatives are not?

Marketing discussion.

How is keeping current in marketing strategies relevant to the ethical training of admissions staff?

Excitement

I feel it is exciting to be communicating with a prospective student about and educational experience that could easily be exactly what they are looking for to make a positive change in their life. I get excited providing information on such transformational information. Even when I learn the individual is not really a match for my institution, it is exciting to know they are another step closer to finding an opportunity that is a match for them - and I did my part in helping them find it. Such interactions are always and exciting "Win-Win" experience.

Small School Growing Larger

As a new employee in an established small school now on an active growth path, I am wondering if there is an accepted progression of competency for the school's admissions process. We currently have a catalog and an official enrollment form, which seem like the minimum basic requirements. In what order should we add functions such as: job placement, graduate career tracking, financial aid coaching, and something else I don't yet know about?

Resource Notebook is a must-have!

I am in the process of putting together my resource notebook and I can't believe how much information I've retained just by assembling the notebook!

Great Marketing

I think the Golf Academy of America has great marketing tactics. At the condo building where I reside, I was stopped by the gentleman at the concierge desk and he told me he heard an add for the Golf Academy on Pandora! He and I talk about work and whatnot often. It was just neat and refreshing to see that we advertise in such relevant ways!
