Ask a question from your peers to help you in your professional work. Seek different points of view on a topic that interests you. Start a thought-provoking conversation about a hot, current topic. Encourage your peers to join you in the discussion, and feel free to facilitate the discussion. As a community of educators, all members of the Career Ed Lounge are empowered to act as a discussion facilitator to help us all learn from each other.

Go On-line

This term I set up on Google...a free website for all my classes. It has everything each syllabi has on it that is required by my school with more in-depth explanations. It includes deadlines for assignments, my evaluation methods, attendance rules, and links to the current term's syllabi. An Announcement page, contains new evaluation instructions and pass due notices. It has help set up a more professional environment. Going on-line has been a big boost to the students learning the value of the internet. It has helped me in reducing handouts etc.

If a student does not want to learn, it could be quite mind boggling. To see a student waste his/her time is very uncomfortable. I would do everything in my power to ensure that the gratitude of learning would be very fulfilling. I would explain the importance of having an education vs no education and how far you can excel in life financially and the repect you obtain with an education.

Second, While explaining the cousre contents, you should display some humor to break the ice and get the class involved. Third, I would find out what are the expectations of the students,so I can set ia nice enjoyable environment.

I believe being motivated while teaching will keep the student interested in the subject being taught. The student will enjoy coming to class on the daily basis and the information presented will enable the student to want to learn more.

Meeting the class for the first time

I agree that meeting the class the first day is sometimes a scarry thought, after about 15 minutes I start to get comfortable and things start to flow. A course syllabus works very well also, no suprises.
