Retention Is It Our Job

Retention, is it our job? Absolutely. We must do everything we can to help our students choose the right career and to help them know what job possibilities are out there for that particular field of interest.

Most definitely is our job! All of the people that the students come in contact with and even some that don't still have a responsibility to do the best job they can to ensure the student is rightly accommodated. Customer service plays a big part in retention and that is served up by all departments.........

The saying "it takes a village" really does apply to the retention of students, Retention begins and ends in the classroom, but teachers are not the only people responsible for it. Staff and fellow studetns play a key role as well.

I AGREE retention is EVERYONES job on campus.  When every department understand that things on campus run much smoother and this harmony is felt by the students which motiviate them to learn and come to school.  When they receive quality interactions and good customer service even from the janitor it makes a difference in whether they want to come to school or not.

It is advantagous for all concerned that we make it good practice to encourage student attendance.  Although, motivation is paticipatory it can be influenced by the leaders as seen in the eyes of the student.  Remember mentor, model and monitor comes along with reaching out to assists students and equip them with education and skills needed for the work force.
