My school has presented us with active learning strategies repeatedly at our in-services. I do think that theories don't have much meaning until they are applied. Since I teach accounting, I have to introduce the theory. In my F2F classes, I then go immediately into examples. First, we demonstrate an example as a class, and then the students break into groups and work on a second application. I find the group based learning to be very beneficial.
