Online Teaching Techniques --> Projecting Your Presence

Post what you've learned about this topic and how you intend to apply it. Feel free to post questions and comments too.

I reviewed best practices and more about the school's expectations for student and instructor engagement.

Best way to start class and engagement is having student's post their biographies.

Engaging with students and allowing them to participate is critical for their success.

Establishing a rapport and relationship with your students, have them post their profile and encourage other students to view each other's profiles to get to know one another.

This lesson taught me how to remain professional while also showing students my authority and confidence in an appropriate way. Also I learned that I am able to share my hobbies with the students to gain their trust and build a bond with.

This module gives the impression of fostering good relationship with students online is similar to in person classroom model.  It is important for both professor and student to know each other's credentials.

Faculty need to use traditional teaching methodology to energize students in an online environment.

I've learned the importance of online presence and proper self presentation and self identification. Student must always feel seen and be able to reach out with any concerns but be able to follow set rules and directions.

It is very important to learn how to project the teacher's presence in front of their students, in a way that projects authority oriented towards respect, not intimidation, good presence, and good relationships with each student.

Projecting your presence is important so that a rapport can be built with the students. This will help to build confidence and trust with one another. It is also important to share expectations, boundaries, and set deadlines for course materials and discussions.

I learned how important it is to create a safe learning environment connection within students and instructor

Presenting a strong professional image to your students is essential. It helps them feel confident that you have the expertise and background needed to guide them through the course, support their learning, and help them develop the skills required to understand and apply the material effectively.

Presenting your professional self to your students is a must so they feel confident that you have the experience and educational background to teach them the class objectives and assist them with learning the course objectives and skills needed to learn and apply the knowledge acquired.

It is important for an instructor to project their authority and credibility in distance learning just as it is inside a traditional classroom setting. It is equally important that students know who their instructor is as well as other students and important for an instructor to know each student on a personal level to enhance the online learning environment.

The instructor support is important for student success as much as the learners interest in learning more.

While I have always begun class with an introductory video of myself, I usually choose a discussion thread for students. Now I am considering a video thread for students who can respond in writing to one another or by video.

I would make myself available for questions, present the material in a confident manner, and ensure all material is accurate

I think it makes a big impact to make personal contact with each student, in a non-threatening way, at the beginning of the course. Maybe send a personalized email or welcome message.

I learned a bunch of new ways to connect early with students before classes even start
