Good to see that written response questions are still a good way to test students understanding.
I plan to use formative assessments, class discussions, quizzes, and hands-on activities to identify learning gaps early and adjust instruction to better support student success in Anatomy and Physiology.
My evaluation of essays has alot to do with the dominant personality trait a student has. Writing about a subject is a blend of technical knowledge, application, and what the final results were. How to think out side of the box. Competency in grading essays will come with experience.
Learned about different type of questions- How to use them correctly and evaluate the performance of the students.
Depending on the specific information we seek, there is a variety of tools at our disposal to measure how effective our instruction is by the types of questioning methods we use.
The true/false and the multiple choice section was interesting. The matching questions and the essay questions I have never seen the FAA use. Never!
I am going to look at how my questions are on my papers.
Measuring student mastery should be ongoing and not just based on a final test. I plan to use quick checks for understanding during class and hands-on demonstrations in my culinary labs to see if students can actually apply what they’ve learned.
This is a great all in one summary of questioning, beginning with how to ask questions in class and how to ask questions on assessments. Based on what I have learned, I believe I can effectively branch out and use more types of questions on assessments.
I have found Multiple choice and T/F questions to be most useful. I have a better understanding of how to make sure the questions are fair, and help achieve the ability better assessment of the student's knowledge and understanding.
Understanding where students are before you begin a new lesson is integral. We have to meet them where they are before introducing new content.
Multiple choice questions are the best way to interpret a student's learning in a course. It allows them to pull on their knowledge in order to eliminate inappropriate responses and select the correct or best answer.
Some of my most effective quizzes combine multiple forms of questioning. T/F, multiple choice, and word bank/matching questions.

Different types of questions can be used to determine student's grasp of the information taught, and the application. It's important to not just use questions that require students to memorize information, but to also apply it.
Essay Questions can be used but it is important to give them examples of graded essays before the essay test so they know how it will be greaded. This will attempt to avoid the subjectivity of grading essay tests.
Multiple choice is the way to to and matching for definitions
Measuring student mastery is all about checking whether students can actually apply what they’ve learned, not just repeat information back.
An efficient way to track the students' knowledge is to check one learning objective to provide clear insight into a student's next step.
