I learned and plan on applying a Value Statement, so students know expectations and act accordingly.

The differences in generations as it pertains to media is important as it allows you to understand what will best suit your class.

With all the communication apps and accessibility to everyone all the time, there has to be some healthy boundaries, so you aren't communicating with everyone 24/7. I plan on putting in some limits as the training suggested to make sure I'm not on the clock everyday.

Knowing different means of communication and the best ways to use them are key with online courses. Before I ever took an online course, I thought any communication not through a phone call was too passive. However, after taking classes I realized communicating through messenger or remail can provide very thoughtful responses. I plan on using a variety of forms of communication during courses.

Counseling through email and chat seem very odd but you can do it. I think when applying this method, it would be a good idea to be overly cautious.

Feedback should be encouraging! Giving critical feedback can be done by highlighting things they have done well and giving pointed feedback instead of just bad news.

Interaction during an online course is a must. The instructor needs to be engaged with student questions and make sure they apply to posts in a timely manner so students stay active as well.

What I took away from this section and will apply is knowing course content and looking at it from multiple perspectives. It needs to make sense as if you were looking at it both from the instructor and student perspective.

Since online courses can sometimes feel a bit isolated according to the course material, putting reflection assignments give students time to think about the course material. Structuring courses depending on the delivery method is critical.

A good test has various ways for a student to test their knowledge. Multiple choice, true or false and even long form answers give students different ways to think and solve problems
