Planning is key, and making sure that you have wiggle room in your schedule for compression and/or questions. 

I like the idea of a pretest to assess what the students know already about the subject you are going to teach.  This way you can keep your students engaged.

A good instructor makes sure that they create lessons that are directly connected to the skills and development that students need to be successful in their careers. 

I learned assessment strategies are very important.  They help measure the classes' ability throughout the entire course.  Examples of assessments are quizzes, projects, tests, and demonstrations.
