Online learner can benefit from making a schedule that they are comfortable with, this will give them time for their personal life and school life as well. It will not overwhelming or stressful. While students can benefit from finishing courses earlier, effectively planning and time management will ensure that students are not only ahead of the game but also understanding and learning the course materials.
Instructors should be a major part in assisting students with time management, encouraging early submissions just incase of an emergency, illness or whatever may arises that can cause interruption for deadlines.
