This module reinforced the importance of active learning and the role it plays in student success. I learned that active learning is more than simply keeping students busy; it requires intentionally engaging students in the learning process through discussion, reflection, collaboration, and application of knowledge. I also learned that active learning can be just as effective in an online environment as it is in a traditional classroom when courses are designed with engagement in mind.
As an online instructor, I plan to apply these concepts by creating learning activities that encourage students to connect course content to their own experiences, collaborate with classmates, and think critically about what they are learning. I also want to continue using real-world scenarios and meaningful discussions that help students apply concepts rather than simply memorize information. By fostering an active learning environment, I hope to increase student engagement, retention, and overall success.
