Expanding My Understanding of Coping and Resilience

This module has deepened my awareness of what effective coping looks like and the various forms it can take. Before, I hadn’t fully considered how psychological coping techniques might not always be effective for emotional triggers due to their nuanced differences. This realization has helped me better distinguish between strategies suited for different types of stress.

One of the most surprising takeaways was recognizing that I prioritize my students’ stress management more than my own. While I consistently provide them with tools and support, I haven’t always extended the same level of care to myself. This insight has motivated me to be more intentional about implementing stress-relief strategies in my own life.

Additionally, I now understand that resilience isn’t just an inherent trait but rather a set of learned behaviors. Through this module, I’ve gained actionable techniques to strengthen my own resilience, and I intend to apply them both personally and professionally. By actively modeling these approaches, I hope to foster a classroom environment where students not only manage stress effectively but also develop their own resilience over time.
