This module taught me the importance of actively monitoring students to ensure they are engaged, understanding the material, and making progress. I learned that not all struggling students are disruptive; some may be uninterested, withdrawn, or quiet, making it difficult to determine whether they are grasping the content. Effective teachers observe student behavior, ask questions, check for understanding, and build relationships that help identify students who may need additional support.
I will apply this knowledge by regularly monitoring student participation, using formative assessments, checking in with quiet students, and providing encouragement to students who appear disengaged. I will create a classroom environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, seeking help, and participating in activities so that all learners have the opportunity to succeed.
