That is a huge area of improvement for us. Coming from a previous school where the placement department was outstanding, there are definately some activities and efforts we can make in the coming year to improve those efforts. Having SS and Placement provide resources, activities, and general involvement help the student see the big picture and gets them motivated to complete their degree. Sometimes they need to be reminded of the end result.

Our placement team introduces themselves at orientation. The team again visits in the first course they are in to see if they can assist with local employment while in school. The team visits with the students again about halfway through the program. Half way through, they start to work with the student on resume building. At the end of the program, they hold seminars to complete resumes, and assist the students with contacting potential employers. Our placement team has a very high placement average. The director has been in this position for about 10 years, and is exceptional at her job. Off the top of my head, this seems to not need improvement at this time.

Our placement department runs job fairs, mock interviews, resume writing, postings of job opportunities on bulletin board and networks with area centers. We also provide services for the community to know the caliber of students that we are training. It is extremely important that if all attempts to keep a student in one area is not productive that we help to provide another field in the school. Everyone is involved from the day of admission until completion. I like the idea of the web page for posting new graduates and job opportunities.

Our school has brought in represenatives from local agencies to speak to students and confirm the existing need for people within the profession for which we offer training. It has been good for the students to get confirmation form someone other than us.

We have quarterly meetings with admissions team, instructors and program managers to share information and see the connection between how we serve the students. We also publish a monthly newsletter that names our students for any accomplishment that we can determine. We also have an excellent placement program that is quite active in meeting with each student prior to graduating and helps them formulate a resume and do practice interviewing.

The concept of adding a webpage to our alumni area of the website where graduates could post their resumes would be an improvement to increase student retention. The inclusion of another webpage for employers to post job opening would clearly be motivation to stay in school. The effort to develop the relationships with appropriate employers would be well worth the benefits to the advertising and prestige of the institution, besides the motivation and success of the students.

Our student placement department interviews students through completion of a 10 year plan study. We find what the student wants to accomplish by the end of a 10 year training. We then place students in appropriate jobs. We then require each student to turn in hours each week. The coordinator then checks up with the employer on student half way through completion of hours. Based on employer remarks student is counseled on things done well and things needing improvement. Upon completion employer is contacted again and a final interview is performed with student on things learned and dislikes about job.

At our University we gives a big importance to this aspect, a good tool that we use in inviting business people of the community to be guest speakers about their work field, so the students can be aware about their opportunities on those particular work environment. It also help student to clarified some point of view by asking questions to this business people about work issues, human resources, salaries, benefits, duties, etc. These conferences related with the academic program they are taking helps to meet their expectation about their planned career.

Our Career Service department becomes involved witht he students at orientation and stay involved throughout their program. The students are given opportunities to hone interview skills.

Certainly Career Services can help. They often
become the area that the student is closest to after their instructor.

Mock interviews are a great idea. In addition, our tech school has its students dress professionally for class each day with the expectation that a job recruiter may pop in at any time. And they do, too.

It helps create a more professional environment and students take their studies more seriously.

Each month I go into the classtooms to discuss current opportunities for jobs in each of our programs. We have a wonderufl website for the students and alumni to access to look at job postings. We also have a job board in the student break room to assist the current students with any type of jobs available in the area, such as retail, customer services, etc. If a student is in need of work and needs money, these jobs have been helpful in keeping them in school. We also have a board of our students that have been hired during their internships, which mootivates our students to want to succeed and be hired during their internships. This is also a great tool for the admissions department when they are walking prospective students throughout the campus.

We currently have a very high placement at just above 91%. We help students find jobs by helping them with their resumes, their interviewing skills, we supply employer lists and we have touch points throughout their time at school to keep them motivated and excited about their career path.

I would like to see us find a way to motivate more students to participate in our graduate level programs, this ensures that they are better qualified to find higher paying careers in areas that they desire.

Our placement dept starts during the first course by helping all student to get their resume together. We offer local placement while they are students and then industry placement as they get closer to graduation. We identify at risk students early on and speak with the students. We try to get placement information on all of our student and use our graduates as success stories to current students and even in TV ads.

Our placement department does mock interviews along with several contacts with the students throught the students career. They also do a fine job of obtaining externships and job interviews. The Placement department and the admissions department need to work closer together to establish a strong goal from beginning to the end of the students educational career.

this has been great for us. It is a great way to get students excited the education they have recieved and has given employors a hands on look at what our students can do which has lead to jobs for our students.

I believe that the placement department starts to get involved while the students are in the final classes. In looking at this, maybe we should implement some type of involvement during the entire process.

Our placement department starts building a relationship with our students from day one. They enter the classrooms from the very beginning working with them on their resume and interviewing skills. I do like the suggestion from this module about self-evaluation. I agree that would be a very effective tool in helping students recognize their potential.

People from our placement department do certain portions of strategies for success class. This gives the connection between students and the department. Placement department also plays a vital role during our orientation and during other activities at the school.

Our placement department conducts workshops through out the students coursework at our campus. They have a serios of 10 workshops each month that may focus things like; grooming, dress, language skills, resume skills, etc. They also have job fairs once a qtr, as well as mini fairs where one employer will come in each month to talk with students, or hire students for employement while they are in school.
