Publicity as part of Marketing

Some folks don't quite understand that Publicity is a fundamental part of Marketing...they see marketing as advertising only and that's a shame. We're building new publicty opportunities and working on a PR campaign to help boost our name recognition in the communities we serve.

HI Marci

Very good points. Publicity and public relations is really about building relations within the community and with people who will get your school name out to your target market. Publicity campaigns are ongoing. When implemented effectively you are likely to reach people who are ideal for your school. Good public relations campaigns also reduce your overall marketing costs.
Best wishes, Susan

Net-working and creating publicity are not only excellent forms of advertising, but also serve as a means of staying contemporary and competitive. Creating good relations within your community often goes much farther in the long run, especially since funds may be limited in the first few years of business. Great publicity can make a huge difference in student enrollment rates, profit, steady business, and expansion.

HI Christie, You are so right. Publicity and public relations is relatively inexpensive compared to paid advertising. The goal is to have everyone in your community know about your school and how it serves the community. It takes a while to set up a comprehensive publicity campaign. But once you have everything organized an administrative assistant can keep the news going out steadily. Thanks, Susan
