Publicity

Our school has little publicity. We do hand out calenders and brochures, we have worked the business expo. I am excited about trying some new ideas. we made a list of demographics from our previous students and that was interesting. We are in the process of forming a committee as you suggested. We are setting up luncheons and dinners for the womens clubs in the area. Lots of good suggestions. Next, we will do a newsletter and press release.

HI Cindy
Sounds like you have a new surge of energy and creativity re publicity for your school. What ever you do, be sure it is well thought out and part of a plan. Also look at the costs. How much does it cost to generate a lead and then an enrollment. Are you reaching the people likely to be interested in your school and programs? Are you reaching people who have a business or personal network and can get your information to the right people? And most important, do you have an outcomes asssessment plan in place so you can measure the results of each campaign. Keep up the good work. Susan

Cindy,

Like you, I see great potential in pursuing the "free" publicity opportunities that abound in our area of influence.

Sounds like we need to work smarter, not harder. I agree that we all need to continually assess and reassess - measure relentlessly.

Hi Bruce, It's amazing how easy it is to use public relations strategies to get your school name in front of potential students. It takes some work to set up a system. But once in place it is almost automatic. We like the term "measure relentlessly." There is so much useful information from formal and informal surveys. The trick is to get the information, analyze it, share it, and make changes. Thanks, Susan

We work with companies that have a direct connection to what we teach at the school.
Word of mouth also works well.

HI Marc
Great that you have affiliations with industries related to the programs you teach. There are many opportunities with this kind of alliance. These companies can send their employees to you for training, they can provide information about your programs, assist with career servics, provide jobs, and more. Can you give us more details about your relationships. Thanks, Susan

Having a relationship with other schools that might bring you to connect with people that are interested in your school is very positive. Our graduates are always helping out a local fashion design school with their shows and do the makeup for the shows. They love our work and are constantly asking us to help with events. ITs a great partnership!

Hi Shelly Great idea re working with other schools in order to generate publicity. Also work with other schools to develop articulation agreements as appropriate. Make it possible for your grads to continue their education at another school and vice versa. Partnering always doubles opportunities. Thanks, Susan
