Assignment deadline
I have given my students a syllabus on the first day of class with their homework assignments due dates and all the test and quizzes for the entire course. I also review the syllabus the first night so there is not issue with understanding the course and when there due dates are. This has eliminated any issue with late assignment from the very first day of class.
Linda,
I do this as well. It keeps the students on the same page and helps to eliminate needless arguments over when something is due. I review the syllabus with the class every day to be sure they are aware of what I expect them to have prepared for the next class.

Hi Karyn,
Wow! You do a fantastic job of making sure your students know exactly what is due. Your students should appreciate you.

Hi Linda,
Awesome! What a great way to get students started on Day 1. Your students have great clarity when it comes to deadlines.

Hi, Linda
I do the same thing for the exact same reason. It sets the tone and gives the student an opportunity to proactively meet the course requirements. From a teaching perspective, it keeps me organized and ensures every student an equal opportunity to meet deadlines regardless by allowing them plan ahead.
Thanks,
Robert
What kind of deadline do you give your students?
Hi Robert,
I give what I think is a fair guideline based on the assignment.
