@msbsmith : I agree that it is a challenge to keep the students motivated to continue to learn for a 4 hour period. I have to put myself in their shoes to come up with fun activities to keep them alert but also as a learning tool.

Assignment deadline

I have given my students a syllabus on the first day of class with their homework assignments due dates and all the test and quizzes for the entire course. I also review the syllabus the first night so there is not issue with understanding the course and when there due dates are. This has eliminated any issue with late assignment from the very first day of class.

This was a good course to transition from class room setting to an online course. I learned how to keep my students motivated and evolved in the discussion group and feel I am ready to teach my online course.
