Designing quizzes and test to save time.
Time is very crucial for the instructor, and so, ways must be sought when making quizzes and tests. For example; when making quizzes and tests, software found at http://quizstar.4teachers.org can be used to effectively assist the instructor in saving time; thus getting more in a normal work day of teaching. Also, what would help is to collaborate with other instructors who have taught the course before and utilize materials that may pass on to you. And while teaching the course, you can modify to suit/tailor to your style of instructional delivery.
I also use a similar technique for giving quizzes using my Smart Board and Kuta Software-no writing on my part whatsoever!
Many of our textbooks come with "Test Generators" which allow Instructors to build up Question Banks, then select questions to create exams. Eventually, you have test banks. I ask other instructors to share their questions for question banks. This allows quick exam creation and prevents exams from being passed down from one class to another...
Hello Susan,
The first slide contains the class title, exam #, etc. the next two slides contain the instructions ie amount of time allotted for each question, where to place answers on the scantron etc.. The remaining slides each contain one question. Some are multiple choice, some are fill in the blank, some are dosage calculation etc. I have allowed 30 seconds per question in the past and allowed the test to run through a second time (so the students were allowed a total of 1 minute per question. I have also administered the test allowing 1min 15 sec per question with the test running through only once. The students seemed to like the longer time with only one viewing better.
That is a great idea, I would like to hear more about it!
I have recently begun administering tests via power point slide presentation. This way I don't waste paper, there is no need to store old tests in file cabinets and it minimizes the risk of the test being compromised.
