Time management a personal priorty

To be in the carreer school enviroment time management should be a personal priority. We have to be able to organize ourselves, our labs and our students if we expect them to do the same. At my school we are always talking about shop management, and time management. The student needs to priortize projects to be completed in a certain amount of time, and the given part of the formula is the amount of time they have for the day in an active lab enviroment. We as instructors need to guide them to help them learn how to do this, easier said than done, but if the instructor can't organize his own world how can he help shape theirs. I take careful steps in trying to stay currant with my to do list, and this helps in an active lab enviroment. Things that I seem to take for granted, and how I organize steps and procedures, students need to learn how to do these things and need guidance to do it. Thy look at you and say "Wow how did you get that done so fast" Time management and shop management skills are very much needed in all aspects of life.

Mark, I like the way you meet with other faculty members to discuss time management and learn from one another. That's a great idea, particularly because you can share methods that work for your unique students and subject matter specialty.

We have weekly fac meetings that enable us to share teaching skills and techniques

That sounds great. It's nice to talk to fellow faculty members and figure out what works best with our students.

I agree Mark. I have found developing templates for to do lists and tasks for class preperation and facilitation is helpful in addition to sharing tips with faculty. I can reuse templates and adjust them as needed
