I know that we never stop learning, for as long as I have been teaching I am still in a continual learning pprocess to keep up with the advances occuring daily in my industry. Industry is always evolving and my students have shared ideas and information about our industry that I find very useful. It's hard to keep up daily with some changes, so I always welcome news from students that I can share with others. Togeter we help each other learn.
Prior to getting hands on practice, we lecture , demo and discuss the tasks at hand. It is difficult to reach all students due to differant learning styles. I try to break items down to the pure basics and let those who need more input ask their questions. I can always tell who puts in the effort to learn a subject when we get to practice lab. I then target those who don't really understand the subject matter for one on one teaching/learning.

The Gen Y students appear that they do not want to use any manuals. Jumping into a project then wanting to rely on the instructor to walk them through is ok 1 time, but they have to learn where to get the information when no instructor is at their place of employment. Others at work will tire of doing thier work for them.

Being a Digital immirgrant I'm trying to include modern ways to help the younger students, but find a lot of the older ones do not really wanting to jump on board. I have tried several ways to make it interesting for all generations to learn modern technologies, but find this the most difficult task so far.

It is hard for me to let students multi task during class as it did not fit my history and formate of education. What I have learned it is almost always better for the newst generation to do multi task assignments. I find more work is done, less time spent being bored, and better cooperation from the class as a whole. Surprised me very much.
To know about all generation will help in being deverse with our students. Just because they may be in 1 generation doesn't meant that techniques from another generation won't work. Each studnet has differant morals, values, and ethics depending on how they were raise and by whom.I personally was influeanced alot by my grandparents ideas and values.So as a teacher we must embrace any and all ideas to get our students to learn.

I think that you have to be honest in coaching, this applies to both parties envolved. A straight forward approach to start the dialog I think works best but does that fit the person you are trying to coach? I have found that if I get the individual to first but into the reasons for a coahing session the easier it can be to get to the root of why it is needed, at that time we can be truthful, honest and open in our dialog to resolve any issues that are to be discussed.

A big challenge to any manager is to first get the team to buy into your management ideas and goals. The approach needs to take in consideration all aspects of the team. Who they are, skills they bring, and a willingness to learn new ideas. A manager needs to be open minded and guide when needed or let the team run with their ideas, it all come down to what works for your own group of people.

Preperation is key to any presentation, knowing the subject matter in depth, inside and out helps in enteracting with my students. Pulling them into the lecture with information, and hands on seems to carry the most weight.

I find that groups help in a departments ability to solve problems. I like to work s a team, this make all feel like they have a say in the department. If the department is close, have the same agenda and focus, there is more harmony. To facilitate this the leader must be interactive with his employees, and not sit back to see what happens, this will cause more problems then needed. On occasions the leader does need to take an effective lead in tyhe department by setting the goals, guidelines, and due dates, and if problems do arise, beinf… >>>
