Never a moment to not learn something new!

I have been pulled in so many different directions with taking on this new position. With that said it has brought me to this training. I have learned so very much in a short amount of time. However I think the biggest realization is that it is not over! There is always something new to learn...always something to update. It is so great to have this avenue and new tools to constantly better myself and thus benefit the student.

Learning Resource Center

Until taking this course, I was unaware that each institution was required to have their own library of resources by CIE. I was aware that each accrediting agency has requirements for a learning resource center. This was a great insight.

Regulations and Policies

How do you keep up-to-date with new regulations and policies. Are there new statues developed after 2011?

Admission Requirement

How should you determine what high school diploma or GED is accepted?

Rules and Regs

I think it is best practice to visit the website, http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/, monthly so to stay up to date on any regulatory changes. Our industry is highly regulated, and with good reason, so change can happen often. I also find that it is important to have a monthly meeting, or time set aside in a monthly meeting, within your admissions department to review any rule changes or acknowledge that no changes have been made. I also like the suggestion from another forum participant to set monthly calendar reminders to direct us to check the website. Ryan

The Resource Notebook

Hi Patty, While I absolutely agree that the Resource Notebook is a critical piece for all admissions personnel in the recruitment process, I do not think it is the "only" tool needed to survive. As admission representatives for our institutions, I think it is also important that we participate in trainings that improve interpersonal and soft sales skills. The recruitment process is a human experience, and as such, we need to be skilled communicators. It is very important that we know not only the rules and regulations, and the information about our institutions, but it is also important to get to know the student so we can learn about who they are and what they want. We certainly need to be able to answer prospective student questions and stay in complaince, but we also need to be able to ask questions. Our role is more than having the right answers, it is also about asking the right questions. Learning the student is necessary so that we can determine if our institution is a good match for their goals and objectives. While I love having a Resource Notebook to refer to for questions and as a source for all rules and regulations, it is one of many tools that we should have at our disposal when meeting with prospective students. Is it good practice to invite active students to recruiting events?

I believe that inviting active students to participate in recruiting events shows the campus school spirit and in a way its a window to see active student satisfaction and involvement.

Staying Up-to-Date and Compliant

Being knowledgeable on your career is the most important topic for me. There is a challenge in our daily base as a professional, in our personal life, because im not only a Professional but I am a Father and for me as a father is very important to know what is out there.

Knowing my institution

Every time a have the oportunity ti lear about my company I alway do. This topic did help me to understand and have more respect for my institution.

Empower me

I believe that this information helps me with my profession

Financial Aid

can an Admissions Representative speak to a student about information retrieved from NSLDS?

high school diploma

My institution requires high school graduation..ie diploma as a requisite for admission. We are encounting hard time with all kinds of diploma mills we have been receiving. Most of the students doesnt have any idea that they are paying for a diploma mills until they present it to an institution. Sometines is very hard to validate them, there is no list or database for private high school validation/accreditations as for a college or universities.

Enrollment Agreement

Can you insert the enrollment agreement online after the completion of the application and accept an electronic signature for the applicant?

Statute and regulation

Since we are all registered member for these Compliance trainings,do you think CIE should be informing us of any new regulatory changes?

Counselor and Representative

If a school is still using counselor than what can be done, ,and what are the repercussions?

Social Media for Institution

We have created a Facebook and Instagram page which has helped to bring in potential Students but we have also noticed that "tagging" has affected what is being shown on our page. What would you recommend for this?

Enrolling Prospective Students

It is important to know a prospective students educational background but if giving an assessment exam to a student and that student fails, should that student have the opportunity to try again?

Compliance Training for Alumni Association

It is imperative that Administrative staff and also Admissions Agent undergo these types of training but do Alumnis who assist the institution have to as well?

Job Placement for Self Employment

As part of the trade we teach students at our institution, expected graduates have the opportunity to start their own business cresting and selling their work. Is it okay to discuss self employment with prospective students?

Alumni Assistance

We like to invite all our almunis to come and assist the students who are completed projects so they can have a different approach to how the teacher gives the lessons. I'm interested to know how other schools gives chances to Alumni to come and help out the institution.
