Marketing

It was important to me to know how as a school you can't just market everywhere. One example of that is that a school can't market in the job section.

Enrollment agreement

In the enrollment agreement at my school, there are a lot of documents that are required to be put in the file before a student can start a class. Some of them is like vaccinations, physical.... Is there a way to get the students to get everything together sooner or even help them with it?

Update to the Cartalog

How often can an catalog change and do the current students need to be notified?

Admissions Test

Admissions test are very important in the enrollment process. If a student was to be enrolled in a course without taking a test, especially for students without a High School Diploma or GED, the student might of been waisting their time and money by not having the intellectual requirements to succeed in the course. These test are used to avoid situations like those and they should be taken seriously.

Regulations

Being the Admission Representative it is my duty to keep up with all regulations. This will not only help me but will protect the school from licensed being revoked or put on probation for my misrepresentation.

Enrollment Agreement

Enrollment Agreement is very important to the student and prospective student as it outlines the information required upon admission. Admission representatives should always make sure that we know all information stated in the enrollment agreement so as to be prepared when student and prospective students has questions.

Admission Director

It is imperative for the Admission Director to be educated on all Policies and Procedures Rules and Regulation as it helps the transition in enrollment very effective to staff members, students and prospective students.

Rules and Regulation

It is very important to know the must and must not when giving information to a student or prospective student.

Best way to get info to prospective students

What are some successful ways to get information out to students? We have found hard-copies and online versions of everything are very successful, wondering what others have had success with?

Transfer of Credits.....Important

The transfer of credits is very important in regards to the student and to the institution. The student has to keep up to date and read in the institution's catalog to see if there is the option of transferring credits. Some institutions will not accept credits, others will. All institutions should accept credits, after all the student has studied and taken them, might as well accept the credits so the student can look forward to their future and graduating quicker to get to where they want to be.

Student Services

I believe it is probably the most critical and important aspect to a school to have student services available to students. Many students rely on this source to get an idea of which road to take at the institution and rely on advice from the adviser. This can be a make or break point for a student. Personally, I have had some great experiences from a student adviser from the student services department, but then again I have had some terrible experiences as well. It all depends on the person advising, so it is also key to have a person that actually cares about the student's future and issue going on with him/her at the moment.

Fiancial Assitance

It is very important for the institution to give a complete and thorough overview of the specific guidelines as to the financial matter to the student. The institution is given the opportunity to help students regarding financiability and that is very important.

Required Admissions Test

In reference to the required admissions test for all institutions, I believe it gives a perfect overview and insight as to how to prepare ourselves for any given circumstances as they come along. At first, I thought the required admissions test was a bit of waste of time, but now that I have read carefully and thoroughly through this process, it is worth the time and gives detailed information that is important and useful for the future in working within an institution.

Admissions Strategies

New ones are always helpful in our field to be able to help our students and our school. If lost, go back to basics. It works.

Spelling and Punctuation

I am curious to know your thoughts on the importance of proper spelling and punctuation amongst Admissions professionals. Do you believe that proper or improper use can impact a prospective students' decision to enroll? Do you believe that it can affect current students as well? Of course the increase in texting has caused many to shorten words and not bother with punctuation, but as educated professionals, we should know the difference and when to apply these accordingly. We are employed with a higher educational facility so what does it say of us when we begin an e-mail to a prospective student with "hi enrollment x"? No capitilization to begin sentences. I have even seen professionals using slang spellings, such as "thanks". If I were seeking higher education, I would never enroll with an individual or the school that employed the individual if an initial e-mail from them was littered with no capitalization, slang terms and smiley faces. Do you believe we should be the change we wish to see in our students and graduates?

The Importance of Knowing Well How Credits Are Transferred

Before becoming an admissions representative I had a lot of concerned for this part in particular. For the moment I can’t think of something as important as to responsibly informing a prospective student regarding his/her transferability of credits. As I’m so concerned about it, I’ll do my very best in thoroughly studying this information. I can’t think of providing nothing but the most factual information in this matter. Credits represent hard work, long hours and money. I would simply hate for a student to have his/her hard work go to waste because of the lack of the right information.

Getting Familiar with Everything an Institution Offers

Key to the role of admissions representative is to get familiar thoroughly with all the programs an institution has to offer. Considering my own experience, I know how easy it is to overlook some programs when one focuses so much on balancing college studies with different personal responsibilities. There are so many resources a college can offer that it is crucial for the admissions representative to make a prospective student aware of all these programs. These services can vary from tutoring to counseling and it might just the right lifesaver for a student when striving for the aforementioned balance.

My Impression on the Admissions Process

While it might seem tedious at first to learn every regulation regarding the admission process, I can picture being a great source of motivation the fact that at the end it will only benefit tremendously a prospective applicant who is excited about starting his/her classes. The better I study these rules the better I will do at the helping potential students with a smoother transition. At the same time, the institution I work for will be represented professionally.

Admissions Representative: A Major Responsibility

I realize a lot of people have discussed this already, but being my first time in this position, and after studying this particular section, I’m much more aware as to how crucial this role is. Not only are we the first point of contact for our institutions with the public in general, but we bear great responsibility in helping prospective students make one of the most important commitments in life. I just look forward to doing my best in fulfilling all expectations in this rewarding job.
