Retention

This is something that is at the very core of my position at our school, but often, I've struggled with what I can really do about it.  This course affirmed that there were things we were doing correctly and suggested some new strategies that we can implement.

Agreed. I really liked the impact Career Services has on the students and it is crucial that we don't wait to the end to introduce CS to the student.  Instead do this in the beginning and continue throughout their programs.

Retention is a problem or concern all schools encounter.  In our school we have a good marketing department.  I did observe the other day our admissions officer talk to a student and encouraged him to continue in school.  This student was sad because he was dropping two courses.   He did mention he was planning to return and finish.  We look forward in having these students come back. Thank You,  Veronica

It is a team effort to touch a student's life from the time they enroll to completion.  Everyone in the building are moderators, models, and motivators until the student successfully graduates and changes his or her life.

Most students are out of their comfort zone and need the professional guidance and mentoring to enable them to be successful.  At ouir campus the goal is for all to succeed with the guidance of all staff members, not just the educators.  we all can play a part in success.

It was a very informative course. There were some items I was aware of but there were several items I was not familiar with like the different intervention techniques. The course also highlighted one very important item which is that instructors are not the most important agent in student retention but rather instructors are only one part of the team resposible for student retention.
